Reading that Manchester City have appointed David Silva to replace Vincent Kompany as their club captain.

The comments made by Pep Guardiola, hasd me thinking about what makes a ''Good'' Sheffield United captain.

Guardiola explained the decision was taken by the squad and the responsibility will fall on the shoulders of David Silva.

“David Silva will be our captain,” he affirmed. “Then Fernandinho, Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero.
“The captain has to be what he is. He knows the Club, the Premier League… he has big respect.
“(To be a good captain), he has to be himself. There will be no problems.
“Normally, the captain is the life of the locker room – they know each other; they have fun a lot when they are together.

“There will be no problem. He will be a good captain.”

Have we announced Billy yet or will it be someone else?
Wonder if Wilder has also decided on players who would fill that role should the number one choice not play?

the Below for me would be the main candidates

Billy Sharp
Oliver Norwood
Chris Basham
Jon Egan
Jags

Agree with that although i’d put O’Connell in that list too.

The problem with that list though is that Sharp, Basham and Jags might not play that much.
Based on being a first team regular then I’d go with Norwood or possibly even O’Connel, although O’Connell is quite young.

Remember being at school and lining up with rest.of the lads, and sports master asking rather quickly...'who wants to be captain '?
About half the team thrusting chests out and hands shooting up !
Maybe this tried and tested method should be employed by CW..nothing to lose !

🤔🤔🤔

Thought it had already been announced that it was,
Club Captain - Billy
Team Captain - Norwood
This would reflect the fact that Billy's starts will probably be limited.
The main thing though is that, whoever wears the armband, the whole team take responsibility and back each other up. I think half of our team could conceivably be captain and it is the togetherness and solidity of our squad that matters more than who is nominated to wear the armband.
