It's done. Move on.
I was his biggest fan but if he didn't want to stay then what was the point in him being here. Don't drag my old comments up because I did swing from his nuts at times -I'm aware, but he was an impact sub still at best.
Lightweight, not an outstanding finisher and nowhere near the finished article.
Don't wind yourself up, don't worry that the signings haven't come in yet, don't even comment on the Brooks thread anymore.

Glass half full? Wilder now has some money, a lot or it and all we have lost is an exciting yet inconsistent substitute.

As for the undisclosed part that could be a good thing too, ok it worries us but maybe the bids we have in already don't needed to be upped now that the targets clubs don't know what is in our kitty.

A month ago we almost lost our true asset in Wilder, let that sink in. Brooks is a young lad that wanted to be somewhere else so get over it. Have faith, we aren't just in good hands.... we are in the BEST hands.

I agree with the premise of your post, but let's not downplay David Brooks' quality. He's an immense talent who never really found his true position and was sidelined by illness for a significant proportion of last season. We will be affected by his absence, not hugely but noticeably.

But yes, Wilder staying is easily the greatest positive we could wish for. Every great thing we do begins and sadly, I suspect ends with him.

You say Wilder now has some money......mmmmmmm wish I was as confident as you

20 year old who showed a few flashes of ability above anything we've seen before? Had 4 or 5 memorable moments in just 30 games? Full international after 10 senior games? Player of the tournament at Toulon? I think we're allowed to be disappointed he's gone without playing a full season FFS.

Being royally pissed off that he's left and having faith that Wilder is an excellent manager are completely separate thoughts.

Very disappointed. On reflection after an earlier flounce this week, I can see that it could be a good deal for us as we might be able to reinvest etc, I do think we could have got more for him, and I’m disappointed that we won’t see the moments of magic, but if we reinvest in a few players it could make us stronger overall - it’s already been said but keeping Wilder is the critical issue.

It is disappointing he has gone, it would have been nice to see him try and gain promotion with us this season but life moves on

It will be interesting to see if Wilder makes any signings this week

Wilder has already stated in the past that nothing will be rubber stamped without his agreement. Do you really think he would allow this to happen without being given a substantial amount of it to reinvest himself?
Few will know the sums but I’d say coupled with the agreed budget prior to the sale it will represent one of if not the best summer budget any Blades manager has had at his disposal. Wilder is no mug. If he can spend it like Kendall did after selling Nathan Blake we will be a better team without doubt

I think whilst he showed a lot of quality in the games he played, he played a lot of cameos and his illness knocked him back, so to say that he we will be affected by his absence, i think that's probably stretching it a bit. He'd not been a key player through the season so whilst he won us games at Leeds and his performance against the pigs was exceptional, the difference he made was probably a handful of points over the season.

So its hard to say that his absence will be felt in this respect. I'm in no way down playing his contributions, he played a cracking role in a very good start to last season and did a good job.

What I do think is a real shame, both for United and for Brooks is that this season, i think a fit Brooks in this side would've been an exceptional talent in the division. His potential was there, great feet, great ability to beat players and with a bit more strength, he could've really lit up the Division. So he had the potential to be missed.

His desire to be a Premier League player was greater than his desire to get there with United, once the club valuation was met.

Once the valuation was met, the player had a decision to make for personal reasons and i don't blame him for taking it.

He's no longer a Blades player, but he'll always be welcomed back as i don't think he's let anyone down.

As always, GLTTL but more importantly UTB

It is disappointing, but putting yourself in his shoes, would anyone turn down the chance to play in the premiership, for probably 4x th emoney he's on now ?

Add to that a chance to set himself up for life when it could all be over with a bad challenge in his next game. And a lovely house on the south coast.

I know i would, and i'm a Blade.

Good post but I disagree with him not being an outstanding finisher quote, I reckon if you could get a chances to conversion rate it would be very high. Some of his finishes were sublime, the one at Millwall springs to mind straight away.

Sun’s out, world cup’s on tele, feet are up.

The fact a young man wants to become a multimillionaire at the stroke of a pen isn’t an event to upset my summer.
When you put it like that, JD.........

The ease with which we accept top players leaving is amazing....

Brooks isn’t a top player. He’s a novice with loads of potential who has achieved relatively little. Whether he becomes a top player in future is a matter of conjecture.

The ease with which those with an agenda attack the club they claim to support is not amazing, but it is tedious and repetitive.

Stats last season for Brooks in 30 odd competitive games he played in we won 13 but we also lost 13 so he wasn't a game changer

Your opening paragraph sums up the position perfectly. Bournemouth are buying potential, and the brutal truth is that only PL clubs can afford to gamble on potential. And I welcome the fact that you criticise a particular section of fans, rather than tarring everyone with the same brush - it allows those criticised to try to justify their opinions.

I'll not get over it. It's not just that we've lost a very exciting young player. It's also the following that piss me off:

1. Involvement of yet another greedy agent
2. Clearly the player has no loyalty, he even turned his back on his country of birth who he won player of the tournament for at Toulon
3. He's gone to Bournemouth which, for me, as a club epitomizes everything that's wrong with modern English football

I’ve cancelled IFollow and I’m forgoing my home shirt order and so is my cat! He’s gutted.

It's not even just that we won't have brooks won't be playing for us.

I'm pissed because yet again we have not got a good deal. Nor do I believe will wilder get the money.

I had hoped with Wilder here, and the previous good transfer windows since his arrival that we had moved on from our unambitious, uneducated transfer bollocks.

I think its a very good deal for what we have seen of Brooks, a few cameos and goal against Leeds. I keep hearing people say potential. Jordan Slew had "potential". For every Kyle walker the academy produces there are more Joe Ironside types. So to get £12 million plus for a 22 year old who hasn't made more than a hand full of senior appearances is in my book very good.

When you sell a plot of land you don't ask for £15,000,000 because there is the potential to build a housing estate on the land. You pay for what the land is worth with perhaps a small premium for this "potential". Brooks is not a proven premier league player or even a proven Championship player and as such I feel the fee is more than fair for once. There isn't even a Bladey Bladeness factor in this one he was a Man City player a couple of years ago and is from Warrington.

Clearly the player has no loyalty,
Somewhere out there is an agent who was doing a decent job with a young talent who's just lost it, I don't understand how players move from one agent to another at the drop of a hat but it happens. For me Brooks has left too soon he's not ready for the Prem so unless he goes out on loan his development will stall.

You got any land you want to sell? You must be the only person in the UK who thinks like that. Don't believe me? Do a land search on line and see what people are asking.

I'm not of the same opinion its about potential. I think he's a very good player NOW. This season I thought he was underused when fit and had he not had the illness i think he would of done much more. Waiting another season at least would of got us a much better fee if we wanted to cash in, with a full season behind him. There's also the mad concept of hanging on to our best players.

Brooks has gone and that pretty much ends my interest in his career (bar bringing us a selling on fee if he moves on in the future). Harry M and Kyle W were Sheffield lads who still love the club, so I am interested to see how they get on. Brooks was not a Sheffield boy and most likely isnt a fan. So I feel no real affiliation with him (now he no longer plays for us).

Underused? Whose decision was that?
