MOTM performance tonight in Norwich’s 5-0 away win at WBA according to BBC. That’s a bit surprising.

I remember being at Barnsley on that fateful night he removed himself from squad. My 7 year old son in tears. The feeling in my gut that replicated the loss of a friend or family member……….said no one anywhere

Nick Montgomery was capable of that, it just never happened. Leave it be, he was wank.
Does anyone remember the home game against Tottenham in 2007 when Monty booted the ball high into the air three times in a row? I think they were all attempts to clear it, and the last one did the job.

Thrown under the bus here in that awful season. Now showing he’s a player.
More evidence that our recruitment that season was actually pretty good but the season itself was torpedoed by the decisions to sell Ndiaye and Berge and not sign a competent centre half to partner Ahmedhodzic.

We needed much more and like this season, we needed players that were ready there and then

I remember speaking with Julian Winter back when Clough had just been appointed. We were talking about a lot of aspects, but one thing he mentioned stuck with me. He said managers know that they have a finite tenure as they know that if they don't get results they get fired. He was talking about blooding academy players at the time, buyt it can also apply to development players or players coming from overseas that just aren't ready for first team football in the Championship or Premier League.

Managers will not take risks with bringing players through if they can move that player on easily and then bring in a player that is ready. I think this was possibly the case with Slimane. He's probably taken longer to settle, to develop and needed the time we couldn't or wouldn't give him.

He was playing way above his level when we're in the PL, but even then I remember fleeting moments of decent technical ability.. just not much mobility.

Was working in Norwich last week - they absolutely love him

Home to Brentford he came on when we were winning and played left side. Looked a genuine player that day but never reproduced it.

Not gonna pretend I was sad to see him leave but looks like he's doing a good job at Norwich in recent weeks.

He's easily Championship quality, would have at least made the bench week in week out for us. Problem is he wanted guaranteed minutes.

We certainly could have used him about now with our midfield issues, much better than Soumare

Slimane is emphatically not a central midfielder (he's nowhere near mobile enough) so comparisons to Soumaré aren't correct. He's been playing as a 10 in Norwich's 4-2-3-1 formation so a better comparator is Callum O'Hare, who is miles better.
