So taking the £7m at face value, then adding in the Princes next level of game changing investment must mean we are quids in with the transfer/wage budget
I'm not so sure
I think we all agree regards the comments coming from the Management team regards "sensible" spending. However, there's a fine line between sensible and perhaps not spending enough to fully compete in the Championship. I suppose defining the clubs meaning of "sensible" is the unknown that I'd like to know.
As I've said previously, Wilder/Knill have done very well with their recruitment policy in terms of remaining within budget, but it would be harsh to expect that to continue in the Championship and yet remain competitive. Gems can still be found, but asking for miracles on a regular basis may be asking too much at this level.
I'm hoping there'll be a mix of recruited players and by that I mean, we'll pay what they are worth (no more) whether they cost £100k, £1m, or £2m and as long as they meet the clubs valuation. To compete, we need to up our game in the quality of player we bring in and that usually means they cost more.
Fingers crossed for a "sensible" window, but one that makes us competitive.
Making the numbers up is not on the agenda
