Fucking ridiculous how many times they've been on , TV is supposed to be entertaining .

How much does the home team get now for a televised game on sky ?
How many times have Newcastle been on?
It seems like every week!

I would be very surprised if we sell 20,000season tickets having said that maybe the the feel good factor of this season may help towards that figure. Hope I'm very much wrong

I think we'll definitely sell 4,000 more season tickets between now and the start of the season

So taking the £7m at face value, then adding in the Princes next level of game changing investment must mean we are quids in with the transfer/wage budget

I'm not so sure

I think we all agree regards the comments coming from the Management team regards "sensible" spending. However, there's a fine line between sensible and perhaps not spending enough to fully compete in the Championship. I suppose defining the clubs meaning of "sensible" is the unknown that I'd like to know.

As I've said previously, Wilder/Knill have done very well with their recruitment policy in terms of remaining within budget, but it would be harsh to expect that to continue in the Championship and yet remain competitive. Gems can still be found, but asking for miracles on a regular basis may be asking too much at this level.

I'm hoping there'll be a mix of recruited players and by that I mean, we'll pay what they are worth (no more) whether they cost £100k, £1m, or £2m and as long as they meet the clubs valuation. To compete, we need to up our game in the quality of player we bring in and that usually means they cost more.

Fingers crossed for a "sensible" window, but one that makes us competitive.

Making the numbers up is not on the agenda

Didn't someone say we had sold 18k last week? If so, 20k is probably a minimum.

I'd imagine we'll get considerably more from sponsorship deals.
I'm wondering if we'll have those digital advertising boards around the pitch? I remember Phipps saying it wasn't an option in league one because there's not enough exposure but maybe things might change in the Championship? We'd certainly have the flexibility to get more sponsors especially if we're on the box more.

I hope you're very much right mate.
I'm surprised you wouldn't want us to sell 20,000 season tickets? ;)

For those that didn't renew early, STs will be more expensive so that's a bit. More of them will be sold. More matchday ticket sales at higher prices. Merchandise but I think TV accounts for a fair chunk of it.

we actually get more money for being on the strap line on saturday soccer , image rights money
stops after the championship

silly aint it

I can believe that revenue will increase to 7m. Important to remember that revenue is only income mind, not the final number. Just off the top of my head and only using player wages as an example if we were to increase everyone in the squads wages by just 1k per week then that's about an extra 1.5m in expenditure per year. I fully expect wages to go up more than that just in promotion adjustments alone so you can imagine that it really doesn't translate to a lot in final numbers.

My worry is that we bring in them annoying advertising boards that encircle the pitch that all PL and most Championship clubs seem to have nowadays - all for a few extra quid sponsorship.

The away followings will be bigger than usual next season because most of them haven't had the chance to come to BL for a long time.

Not only that but SUFC is a better away day experience than most clubs with the downtown location, fairer admission charges and the abundance of pubs and eating places around the ground. There's also the stigma still attached with visiting the deathtrap so using the number of away visitors at their place is not an accurate baseline figure.

I refer to my earlier post. We get extra £4.25 million just from Premier League. The other £2.75 million is made up of increased tv revenues, gate revenues, merchandise etc. A good season it will be much more than £7 million.

I think it could be more than 7m too. People say that all of these revenue streams will only increase by a small amount but with there being so many different forms of income for football clubs like you said above, a small increase in all revenue streams is all we need to increase significantly across the board. The only thing I was pointing out is that it's important to remember that higher revenue will also mean higher operating costs so a 7m increase in revenue doesn't translate to an extra 7m in the transfer kitty.

TV revenue, extra fans through the gates, merch etc.....

This of course would be offset by the extra wages & transfer fees for playing in a higher league..

I was hoping I'd missed something glaringly obvious SB , that someone would direct my attention to . An additional 7 million sounds great doesn't it , but there's not a chance on earth we'll see that kind of additional revenue .

I would very much think that is in the right ball park. What makes you think differently?

Additional sponsorship, TV money, appearance money because we will be on more often, higher gates, merchendise. Bet it isn't far off. Don't think you realise how little actual gate receipts net you compared to TV revenue, even in the Championship.
