That's the number being touted by " football business analysts " at Sheffield Hallam University in relation to how much additional income promotion to the Championship has won us . I'm not sure I agree with this .

If we saw 20000 Season Tickets sold for next season at an average of £ 300 each that's £ 6 million , £ 3 million more than this season .

20000 ST''s sold is a very optimistic estimate , so where's the additional £ 4 million coming from ? TV ? Gate revenue ? Merchandise ?

I'd imagine sponsorship plays a big part. There is so much more exposure in the Championship compared to League one. Will manly be the telly though. Plus away followings will be up about 200 % I bet

The numbers just don't add up . Increased revenue from bigger away followings contribute very little too . Last season average away followings in league 1 were approx 700 . In the Championship they were approx 1400 .

Ahhh, I hadn't realised that it's assessed over 3 seasons, thanks for the enlightenment however with the way the club is being run at the minute as Chris keeps saying, they'll be sensible, keep the books balanced whilst being competitive, fully behind that!

I was surprised at your figure of 1400. I suppose we tend to look at the away followings of the two Sheffield clubs and Leeds and expect other clubs at CCC level to be up around there. Looking at Leeds and the Pigs followings this year, there are some clubs taking very few away if that's the average.

The away followings will be bigger than usual next season because most of them haven't had the chance to come to BL for a long time.

Clubs receive a percentage of away tickets sold prior to the day of the game I believe. Think it's 5%.

Problem is, if it were as high as £7m a season extra, that would only cover the losses we are making currently.
So, with the words "game changing" still ringing in the ears, and the latest "club on the up" expectations are high that there will be some substantial in real terms investment in the playing side.

Realistically, I would be surprised if an extra £5m was spent on wages a season, plus a transfer fee kitty of 2-3 million. Game changing? Significant?
Probably not, we will be relying on Wilder making some magic to be something of a force next season. So I'm positive we will be mid table at least, and Chris will find a way of getting results.

On last years evidence it's more likely to be young uns. Lads with great promise somebody will pay a reasonable amount for to develop or take a risk with whilst we avoid the risk and use the cash for wages. If we don't get investment CW might just decide he has to keep them though. Difficult job this managing.
