Just in the process of sorting through the stuff cluttering the house since we moved in, and had a few autographs fall out of an envelope as I picked it up to see what was inside... I'm guessing with the envelope being with the '71 promotion souvenir and a couple of programmes from the mid-60's that these are from that period.

Rather than spend 15 mins sitting trying to work out who's who, I figured it might be interesting to scan them and crowd source... perhaps sparking a bit of discussion as I go.

So here we are...

First three:

I'm guessing at Len Allchurch for this one, purely because of the few letters I'm decided on, am I right?

Not sure on this one, need to give it some more thought.

Thinking possibly Graham Shaw?

You could be right about Len Allchurch and Graham Shaw. I reckon the middle one is Ronnie Simpson. I didnt recognise any of the autographs like I would have of our players from the early 1970s. The ones you have were probably signed between 1961 (when Len Allchurch signed for us) and 1965 (when Allchurch and Simpson left us)

Talking about our early 1970s players autographs, I noticed that at the 1971 squad reunion last year, Ted Hemsley signed his autograph as "Ted Hemsley" unlike he did when he was playing for us, he would sign as E J O Hemsley (Edward John Orton Hemsley) which was his his name on the cricket scorecards

Just remembered that we played against Swansea in Len Allchurch testimonial match in May 1971(see link below) so maybe the autographs were signed at that match?

I'd agree that number 1 is Len Allchurch. Found a photo of his autograph on Flickr and it matches.

PS. S24SU Flickr group doesn't seem to be accepting new photos ... when I 'Add to Group' S24Su on a photo, it says 'Pending approval by group administrator', but never gets approval.
Have tried to add photos from Yeovil away, Wycombe away, Carlisle away and Brentford away but no luck.

Bingo. It has to be Ronnie Simpson :)

Cheers Ecco & Silent.

I've just fixed a problem with the Flickr group by the way, thanks for bringing it to my attention, though the photo pool on our main site no longer appears to be updating.

Slightly before my time as a Blades those three. Interesting thread
