One of the last 40k+ league attendances at the lane.

I think only Man U later that year, Leeds the year after and Pigs in 1980 got over the 40k mark again.

Only Liverpool v Man U with a bigger attendance. More than Arsenal and 12,000 plus more than Man City with Franny Lee, Colin Bell etc in their team. Oh how times have changed .

Great time's, in my humble opinion we have never had a better kit than this , a thing of beauty ,Alan Hudson the Chelsea player in the picture, probably up their with TC as a great no. 10

It always makes me laugh when fans say the present Lane capacity is enough and we will never fill a 40k stadium. That period in the early 70's demonstrated that if this club ever gets in the top half of the top division the fans will come to watch, even more so today with Premier league day trippers.

thats exactly it the cost of the south stand sent us down to division 4
