I was 10 and used to go with my Dad & his mates , sipping an orange cordial in the Albion on London Road with their lads.
Growing up in the 60s/70s was an amazing experience - we were constantly getting new products from the post-war consumer boom.
Vesta Currys (in a packet with a separate packet of rice) were all the rage.
My Dad's gang used to call him 'Beef' or 'Beefy' , a la Beef Curry (Currie) , before the TC thing got going.
The excitement of watching him and Woody in those years (10 to 16) is just so embedded in the psyche of most Blades my age.
The best tribute I can give them is to say that they welded me to the Blades and to the Lane for life.
I left Sheffield when TC left in 1976 , but I've followed the Blades up and down this land.
I sometimes wonder whether , if the Blades ever leave the Lane , my bond might be broken , because there is a such a spiritual element to revisiting the same hallowed ground where I first fell under their spell.
I trust we'll never leave.
And I trust the Club will do something next February to celebrate Beefy's debut.

Good post but Addison was a striker. One of my favourite 50 Blades of all time.
I know that he was bought as a replacement for Birchenall and he'd got a decent strike record Woody, but for some reason I recall him more as midfielder (strangely playing with a pot on his wrist ;) ) who could also play up front. It's a long time back mate so there's every chance I'm wrong.

Either way like you, he's one of my all time favourite players, what was the song, 'And here to you Colin Addison' to the tune of 'Mrs Robinson'?

Good song, also recall " He's here he's there he's every f'ing where, Addison, Addison...." The first of a few I think.

I'd just left school but still went to games with my Dad and Bro in law. If I'm honest, it was a great game and TC played well, but I can't recall seeing anything then that made me think WOW we'd signed a genius, and the finest Blades player I've ever seen.

We were scratching around trying to replace the brilliant Mick Jones and Sherman at the time, and although TC did an ok job as a striker, he wasn't a world-beater. We were also playing midfielder Colin Addison upfront with Mick Hill who was by then our only recognised sticker back then, so I'm pretty sure TC was signed as a striker.

But Sir John Harris had the foresight to move him to midfield the following season and a Blades legend was born. Where has the time gone? UTB.

I had the opposite impression. I did think WOW and remember rushing back to my local and telling anyone who cared to listen ( not many, as it it was in a predominantly piggie area ) that I'd just seen the finest young player at Bramall Lane since I watched Dennis Law play for Huddersfield against us.

As for Colin Addison , I loved him to bits - great footballing brain coupled with skill and commitment but very much underrated both at the time and since.
