You can take it as a Clough or Adkins bashing thread if you like but the point the OP made was fully valid and that stat is inexcusable.
Shows three things
1. Lack of bottle
2. Poor tactical set up
3. Lack of quality to defend properly.
We all saw the sitting back on a lead and the frustration that came with that. All part and parcel of why the fans saw the players as lazy and useless. Sitting too deep, inviting poor teams to coma (thought of editing that but it seems quite an apt typo) at us, and failing to keep the opposition out time and time again.
As Les says, we didn't come from going a goal behind to win a game all season. That shows a lack of bottle too as well as a lack of heart and desire. I also see that as a tactical failure. All the substitutions made last year were a like-for-like swap - at times when the horse had already bolted. Nothing to alter the method of play or to shake things up - just plod on with the same old UEFA badge way of playing keep ball - but with sub standard players and keeping the ball in areas of the pitch you can't hurt the opposition.
The stat in the OP illustrates, perfectly what was wrong and what needs to alter. Wilder and Knill have a style and system that is a full remedy for that turgid, boring, immasculating, football by numbers system.
Goal mouth action
Work the oppo keeper
Get to the by line and get crosses into the danger zone.
Play in their half of the pitch and stretch the oppo defence
All things I was banging on about but didn't do - now I believe that will happen and I am really looking forward to it
