Off top spot with 18 games to play.

During that 18 we are going to lose some, draw some and win some.

I reckon 10 wins and 3-4 draws will see us up.

Disappointed that we lost yesterday but on another day we’d have got at least a point. The performance wasn’t the worse we’ve seen, even Wilder wasn’t as critical as he has been.

Tough game next week but we have a week to prepare and i think we’ll get at least a point.

I don’t understand some people flying off the handle at yesterday, in particular the two new lads who I thought did well. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Dowell start next week.

Totally agree. Disappointing result but if we’d took our chances that would have been another away win.

I thought Dowell and Madine did really well.

What I don’t understand though is you not understanding people flying off the handle when we lose? They do it every time. It’s always been like that. These may be adults but they have child-like responses when something goes wrong. They stamp their feet and scream and have a tantrum. They lash out at something or someone. They are up in the air when we win and down on the floor when we lose.

There’s no cure for it. Best thing to do is gently mock them and enjoy seeing them be wrong every other week.

It was disappointing as I think we allowed them too much of the ball and we lost our way second half. The way we tried to change the game after they scored didn’t work and I guess that’s frustrating.

However, we’re still in there and we were just two chances away from changing that game.

Norwich will be tough though. They looked decent on Friday

By my reckoning we’ll need 40 of the 54 points up for grabs to take a top 2 spot

They did look decent but Birmingham were so under par, they made it such an easy and comfortable match for Norwich.
Love the early posts on this thread, gives me hope for society that some can give considered opinions.

Really getting fed up of the binary view of
Win a match = we were brilliant, best team ever, Sharp is a legend, Norwood is the best player in the league.
Lose a match = we never even tried, we’re poor, Sharp is past it, Norwoods need to be dropped. We need to spend.

Indeed. Or did Norwich play so well they made Birmingham look rubbish - like we do to teams often

Similar to Swansea then! Birmingham and Swansea both have the quality to get goals, its how we see them off which was the difference.

Norwich did two things that we aren't renowned from - scoring a bullet header from a corner and scoring from outside the box.

It was interesting to see how clinical they were on Friday. I'm not saying that we should be having potshots from distance, but we all know that we should do better from corners and with Madine on later in the game last night, we had corners but Swansea defended well or we took a poor corner

Possibly but they don’t do that often. Their matches tend to be open with both teams having chances to score.
Suspect next week will also be open with both teams having chances to score, let’s hope Sharp and McGoldrick are on form.

There was a certain inevitability about last night. To my mind, each team only had 2 great chances (theirs the goal and the save Hendo made) but only 1 was taken and unfortunately not in our favour.

We got into some very good positions as well but the crossing was often behind everyone.

So where is 10 wins coming from then? Have you seen who we have to play?

I think 8 is realistic and maybe 4 draws..........but we continue to hope

I'm fairly certain we won't make the top two. We just don't have the depth. We basically have to win every time we play well, and while we've mostly done that, we maybe aren't quite ruthless enough to always make it count.

And that's OK. No-one thought the top 2 was on before the season started, much left after our poor start. We've done fantastically well since now and then. The key will be to hang tough in the play-off spots. Secure that, then we can start worrying about how to change our play-off record.

I was thinking this the other day, it’s not a criticism not even close, we have some very tough away games and I just don’t think we have enough to realistically challenge for the top two. Looking at the run in I’d take 6th place now. I think we’ve done so well that expectations within some of our fanbase has become unrealistic. A 6th place finish with this squad and our budget would be an unreal achievement.
