4-2-3-1 isn't the way to go...

Our problem is not formations, I would love to see a midfield of Coady and McGinn, players who will look forward rather than sideways, back or looking at getting off the turf when missing yet another tackle in Doyle. We don't get the ball forward anywhere near as quickly enough so when our attacking 4 get the ball they are usually smothered. Fuck formations, just play with intent to get the ball forward quickly and at pace (and yes you can still keep it on the floor Pinchy)

I've been saying this since McDonald left. I know we would prefer to get the ball forward quicker than they are, but they are missing the middle man who can link the play between midfield and attack. We have options to link up the defence and midfield, which is why we're having so much possession, but we're missing that man to take us into the final third with a bit of momentum and the ability to catch the defence out. Because we're missing the creativity, we're moving forward too slowly and allowing the opposition to get behind the ball and set themselves up before trying to either work an opening or get a cross in.

Someone like Baker from Coventry who has been linked would be ideal for us at the minute. I'm not saying he's a world beater but I don't think you'll get much better for a relatively low fee at this level.
