Some tremendous crowds at all the ties looking at the results.A couple of years ago I helped clear out an elderly relatives house after she passed away and came across an old newspaper.

Most men worked on Saturday mornings so going to away matches wasnt an option.Football was different after the war. Fans weren’t as discriminatory.....also there’s wasn’t much away travel.
The fashion was......if you could afford it......you’d go to any big match in the area.
So many 1000’s of Blades used to go to Hillsboro and many 1000’s of Owls used to visit Bramall Lane.
Also no flat caps being worn..why's that then ?Big Mal at centre half for the cheats. Notice no females in the crowd, and first time a white ball was used in Sheffield. Think the Gateshead game must have been played at Roker or SJP. Following season they got to the Quarter Finals.
That was the fashion in 1920s not 1950sAlso no flat caps being worn..why's that then ?
