Just watched that and somethings I noticed
Dum pigs 🐷 pitch was better then than now
Carlton Palmer was a fucking wank footballer
El Rustico still looks the same , a fucking dump
Great to hear the GCB song being sung

I was in the North Stand that night. A few pints in a side street pub on Penistone Road ( Masons?) with my Wednesday supporting boss first.
Dane scores earlier on and i jumped up to celebrate, then realised I was in the middle of their stand, looked round and noticed there were plenty of Blades around me and across the whole stand. 2nd went in and there was bedlam on the Kop where a few Blades were celebrating at the front, looked across to their South stand and there were large groups of Blades either celebrating or fighting and there seemed to be even more Blades celebrating in the North... especially towards the away end .I didn't see any trouble in the North but there were that many Blades you felt comfortable

I remember Simon Tracy tumbling into their Kop at one stage and Pearson trying to get their fans to calm down when they were abusing Woods for another mistake.

Not much better than winning a game at the Sty
I had more or less the same experience. Sat in the North stand, we scored, half the stand celebrated. Felt a lot calmer after that.

What a night. I was walking on air for a week afterwards. UTB

Thanks for the bump on thirty years.
Rhubarb, pressed the wrong thingy ma jig, pissed at five in the morning.
As I said thanks for the reminder, just watched the whole game and what a good game plan Blades had and how well they executed it.
Royally extracted the urine out the 'deluded', they were never in it.
Was there on the night, ye can see me and our young 'un in Leppings Lane Stand ;), when the cameras swung round, on at least three occasions.
Like most derby games a tad frought at the time, just nice to have seen it after all this time and able to fully appreciate what a footballing triumph it was.
Thank you to all players and staff who were involved on the day for representing the club in such a magnificent way.

Brilliant night, had been getting all sorts of grief from grunters at school in the weeks leading up to it about how they were taking revenge after the match at the Lane. Then the Thursday was glorious, saw a few of them in a queue for a class first thing and just pointed and laughed, they finally had absolutely no comeback.

I recorded the whole radio sheffield comms on tape including praise and grumble after, and used to listen to it back quite often. Bob Jackson commentated on the night and I can remember his comments for the 3rd goal "A lovely, LOVELY pass from John Gannon!"

I was so, so nervous, but then Dane popped up and I remember going bananas and charging downstairs to tell my Dad who was watching Corrie "Whitehouse's scored!".

When they got one back with that jammy deflection I had to turn off for a bit I was so nervous, but I put it back on just in time for the third.

People often forget we should have got a 4th, Hodges had a really good chance late on.

Then watched the ITV extended highlights, and re-watched the entire recording before going to bed buzzing.

Still got a "Silence of the Owls" / "United's Double Whammy" moth eaten t-shirt up in the loft.

One of the greatest memories I have of watching United, and I wasn't even there, envy everyone who was!
Although after 30 years my memory may not be great, but I'm sure that Hodges shot hit someone square in the face (Phil King??) who was stood on their line, and knew nothing of it. Jammy bastards should have been done 1-4.

Phil King was one of several players they had at that time who visually resembled a pig. Pressman was another.

Looking at the game , when did the back pass rule come into play as the keeper kept picking back passes up, i thought it was always a rule, any one know

Blimey, I had just taken my Class A Morse code exam that night at the old stocksbridge college, when I had finnished, rushed out and jumped in the car, put the radio on just in time to hear the third goal go in on radio sheffield on my way home.
I bet it felt like the car had square wheels with all the bouncing around 🤣

Them were the days, we boozed in Malin Bridge then walked across over the housing estate and down Leader Road through the park to the away end, I had a splitting headache and the noise didn't help, but I have never enjoyed a derby game as much as that one..

We can talk about bouncing day, but I fancied us that day, this one was when they were out for revenge and got another lesson from the underdogs...

They always underestimate us, I fucking love that about them..

I was 23... Where's it gone..
Too true. I was 18 and it seems like yesterday. Remember getting a specially laid on double-decker back into town after. Some bright sparks on the top deck thought it would be fun to piss on the pig fans walking home, when we were crawling through traffic. The worst thing was because it was raining, they didn't even realise straight away. Their faces when they caught on and looked up. Now, as a sensible middle-aged father of four, I wouldn't condone such juvenile and disgusting behaviour. Well, not publically at least. What a night.

Backpass was season after I think
Deano scored at Chelsea when there keeper messed up and gifted him a goal

Remember that rulechange playing CB myself I put my goallie on endless scary moments first games. Goallies way better with ball at feet today. Lots of indirect free kicks called due to this. 11 men on the goaline.. dont see it anymore.

That was the 2-0 at the Lane earlier in the season. It was Whitehouse and would have made it 3-0. It hit King on the arm to stop a certain goal but in fairness to the ref it was going at 100mph and impossible to spot.

That makes more sense as I thought it might have been Whitehouse, but thought my mind was playing tricks when Hodges got a mention!!

Plus I scooted quickly through the extended highlights of the 3-1 and of course, it wasn’t there.

Cheers

I think this affected Simon Tracey - one of the best shot stoppers but not the best with the ball at his feet.

I didn’t go that night, my youngest was only 10 months old and the wife had gone out so I was looking after the nipper.

I had the commentary on the radio and was going nuts when the goals were going in.

I was working in Derbyshire around then and was driving over each morning. I always had the radio on in the mornings and I remember Joe Elliott being on that week (may have been Simon Mayo) talking music and about the Blades victory and beaming with delight.

Think Mayo is a Spurs fan so was glad to talk football with Joe, great interview.
