It was an amazing atmosphere I remember, as you can tell from the highlights.

And since then they have won a premier league title and a league cup and spent 18 years in the Prem and played in champions League, at least we have been consistently shit since then

30 years Wow.

Remember going to the game at Ewood and the replay at the Lane. People queued out all night for tickets to Ewood. I bought one off a lad on John St West for double the face value. Great day at Ewood. I thought it would just be our woolly hat brigade but when we got in the ground it was full of our pissed up nutters. We celebrated the draw like a win because we knew we could beat them at home.

Brilliant night at the Lane for the replay on John Street terrace. The next game...the less said the better.

Drove at stupid speeds back from our win at Southampton to queue up for tickets for the game at Blackburn. Already queuing on our arrive at the Lane !! Got tickets.

Great memories.

Demand for tickets for the initial game at Ewood was so great they decided to show the game live on a giant screen set up on the pitch at BDTBL. I think it was a fiver & sat in the South Stand?
Blackburn were building a good team then with Jack Walker’s millions & the replay was tense but we came through in the end resulting in my first trip to Wembley.

Just look at the scenes on the Kop at the end. Everyone still there well after the finish all stood singing going crazy. That was an atmosphere that night with the three sides of the ground going full at it. If only we could have that kind of passion again these days.

Mitch Ward hat-trick with his penalty too. Great memories.

I remember watching it after on video

The expert panel couldn't give us any credit then either, trying to say that Blackburn tried to take cultured penalties whilst we just put the ball down and blasted them

I don't see any of that apart from maybe Pembertons who smashed the last one to try to make sure

Let’s hope the lads are practicing penalties tomorrow just in case…

Different times everyone would be on their phones now or some would have left to catch the earlier bus.

Yes, was on the South Stand. Atmosphere something else. One of the great nights. Apparently attendance was only 23000 plus which is hard to believe although I don't think Blackburn brought many.

I was at the lane for the first game, think it was a fiver with my first ever season ticket. We were indeed sat on the south stand with a massive screen. Was a very strange atmosphere.

Replay one of favourite nights as a Blade especially when Pembos penalty nearly took the back of the net off.

I was there with my dad and twin brother. Was an amazing game . Then attended the semi v pigs at Wembley. 30 years ago, amazing memories. Thanks for sharing :)

I might have mentioned this in another thread, but I reckon this is the last home FA Cup home game I didn't go fto

If I remember I dont think we got many tickets for the game at Ewood (may have been less than 1k) I was lucky I got one
It was a great night at the Lane

What a great night it was! Hopefully we'll have a similar result against them on Sunday.

I have said this elsewhere, but look at the body language of our penalty takers. They just weren't going to miss. England take note!

That team had a hard mentality and once it got to penalties I never doubted that we would win. And that says a lot, because ever since 2nd May 1981 I have usually been quite pessimistic about possible outcomes with regard to United.

One of my favourite nights ever at the Lane. I remember the realisation as Pembo stepped up that if he scored, we were through, and for some reason I was 100% confident he would do just that.

As you will all know, this is NOT the usual way for a Blade to think, and yet on two further similar occasions I had the same confidence: Wayne Quinn five years later, and Michael Doyle at Upton Park leading to the infamous cockney walk.
