The streaker actually made the front page of the green un!

Not sure if anyone has a copy. Maybe someone could look at the library!

Yep that was another SUFC attendance fiddle. 21k my arse. The Kop was rammed and in those days of standing on it i think it was supposed to hold about 18k by itself. So the club were basically claiming that the in the rest of the stadium there were just 3 thousand fans.... Yeh reight. Dodgy fuckas United's board back then but then again who was the chairman back in 91? Was it Reg the stoat, or Sam the Sham, or Interpol Woolly, or pinchy Hinchy? What a set of directors we had back then.
I remember going on the tour of the ground at the 1989 open day and a strange, small digital panel above the door of the board room. The chap conducting the tour didn't know what it was but joked it was to show the actual attendance. Many a true word perhaps?!

We might as well have had the Kray Twins, the Richardson Gang and the Gambino’s on the Board, they would have been schooled by Paul Woolhouse “The Godfather”.

I was 14, United mad and this season had amped it up to the max. For some reason my Dad couldn't take me to this game, but by this point I wasn't having missing out and convinced the folks to let me go to this match with a Blade family acquaintance and a couple of others.

They had season tickets on the kop, but I was paying on the day, and when we got to the corner of Shoreham Street and John Street it was absolutely rammed, and they had closed any paying turnstiles on the kop. Somehow we agreed to meet at a specific point after the match and off I went to get in somewhere else.

I ended up on the John Street West Terrace on my own at 14 and had a bloody whale of a time. The ground was so packed, that at least 100 United fans had gone in the Norwich end and 5 minutes or so after kick off got escorted round to the West terrace. The police then opened the pen next to the away end which was usually a buffer zone (there was no hint of any trouble though). And I nipped out onto the side of the pitch and got in to that section as there was a bit more space and got a decent view and a crush barrier to rest on. Soon became clear that there were a few 'likely lads' in there, but it was such a good carnival atmosphere and I was loving it.

Norwich scored early, but we played well and I got a great view of Agana's 2 deserved goals. The kop looked amazing in the sun from a distance.

Somehow met my lift home after the match absolutely buzzing.

21,000 LMAO.

First conversation with folks when I got in from a brilliant day "Can I have a season ticket next year please?"

You can just about see the extra open pen on John Street on the vid:

Ah, the old John Street West Terrace. Had a season ticket on there for a few good years. It had some colourful characters on there to say the least and it was pretty boisterous for the bigger matches. The lads on there didn't back down in any confrontation let's put it that way. Still have the chip missing out of my front tooth when it went awol during the mad celebrations after Deane scored v Weds in Nov 91. Good Times, before I moved on and lived abroad for a good few years whilst serving in the forces. Wonder what happened to all those cheeky scamps on the West Terrace?
Dad and I had season tickets on the WT for the three seasons. We didn't want to sit on the kop so moved there. It was a fantastic atmosphere and some proper hard cases. I fell over when Deano scored that goal! On the video you can see dad trying to grab me. Hope it wasn't me that knocked your tooth out Weasel! What a day!

There were lots of funny moments too. I remember during a particularly boring match, it was dead silent and the whole terrace was listening in to two blokes having a conversation about one of their conquests from the previous night. It got quite detailed in terms of what sexual events had transpired and after about 5 minutes there was the punchline 'Fuck me I didn't know our lass was so filthy!' and which point the WT erupted!! Certainly the loudest cheer that day.

Happy days.

Bert stood on the Kop for over 20 years.

It was a sad day when the roof came off and it was no more.

It was a fantastic experience as a one-off, but my recollection is that without the roof the usual noise wasn't there without roof keeping it in. Used to love standing on the Kop, hate the current version and haven't been on there for 15 years or so.

Remember Mark Bowen getting plenty of shit at that game for something he'd said in the newspaper about us.

Anyone remember what he said?
I remember that and was only thinking about this the other day. Can't recall what he said, but remember giving him the bird. 😂😂

The old kop was great. you could always smell the cigar smoke. and a fantastic atmosphere.
