I remember just starring at the linesman after Baxter scored simply expecting that the flag would be raised, so foreign was the concept of us turning up let alone scoring at Wembley.

They of course outclassed us at the end, but there was a touching moment after their fifth when we all applauded the team as they went back to the half way line with a feeling of pride.

Best defeated day out I've ever had following United. There was no injustice, no dodgy ref, we were simply outplayed in the end by a superior team, but DAMN they gave us something to be proud of that day. For once, we turned up on the big stage, we had a good go and we gave them a fright. It was the end of a fantastic cup run and the Hull fans I met afterwards were full of praise for our team and fans.

I know we lost, but I'll always look back on that day with fond memories. I consider it the best game of football that "new Wembley" has ever seen.

I know we lost, but it's one of the best days/weekends out I've had following United. That moment when we all stood and applauded the team when Hull scored their 5th will live with me forever.

Totally agree Forge even though we were beaten it was thoroughly enjoyable. On the tube train away from Wembley the Hull fans were congratulating us on the way we played and that we played them off the park in the first half.

That cup run was the best in living memory because of the position we were in and to beat all those higher ranked teams from the third round up and because of the fact we deserved to beat all those teams with possibly a bit of luck against Fulham at home.

I agree with all the posts. It was a fantastic day out at Wembley, it was the first time we'd scored at Wembley so to get 3 was unbelievable!!. The hull fans congratulated us on our way back to the car. A hull fan who I worked with at the time said we had been very lucky!!. He went to the game but obviously watched a completely different game to the rest of us!!. He was never complimentary about us!!. The one good thing though was congratulating him when they beat the snort beasts in the playoff final. Up the blades

You've forgotten Fred Tunstall's goal at Wembley in 1925 . And Corky against the pigs but I know what you mean blanks ever since.

Great day though, the first goals I'd seen since Alan Cork's at that venue.

A great weekend out. Recall watching the London Marathon and seeing Farrah and then posing around London with masks of various old Blades players... Colin Morris at Piccadilly Circus, Edwards at St Pauls, Flo at Big Ben and Deane at Downing Street. Not sure where thhe photos went and I got some funny looks that day.

Remember about 15 of us drinking on the banking not far from the stadium. The sun was out, everyone was laughing and you realised why you keep going to watch them. We have it a real go in the final and the 2 first half goals are as mad as I have celebrated United goals. At half time I actually thought we might get to an FA Cup Final.
