He also mentioned possibly another number 10 if Duffy, brooks or carruthers don't make it there own.

Are we able to work together to build a team of players who we were reportedly in for but never signed/messed us about/we offered naff all for?

Yet another OP who thinks there's a money tree. Very easy to spend OTHER PEOPLES MONEY isn't it Les?

Haven't we already had a 1m bid for Leonard, 2.5m bid for Coady, 1.5m bid for Lenihan?

That's 5m there!

Lucky 7 has always been good for me ... :)

That's not predicting we will fail that's outlining my worry.

A prediction would be saying I predict come September we will have failed with our bids. :-)

We are spending other people's money - Leicester's and Man City's and we've not even spent all that yet on team strengthening!

I take your point but isn't the golden rule of choosing to be a football club chairman "either shit or get off the pot"?

We were very much led to believe that FFP had prevented us from spending heavily last year, despite around 5m in incomings from sales and no more than a million in purchases. The message was very much "wait until we get to the Championship".

We're here now. And we're still waiting.

We've spent about 1.7m in the bargain bin on league one and league two players and an out of favour Championship player and we've received in no less than 5.1m unplanned from other clubs selling former players before any of the "Think Liverpool", "Substantial with a capital 'S' investment". It doesn't smack of optimizing the manager's resources for the coming season at all. The unexpected revenue should have given Wilder the chance to aim higher and secure a better league position not an opportunity for the owners to hold off on putting in.

I'm not asking us to bankrupt the club, but spend what we have so we can give the Manager the best chance of success. Otherwise what's the point? A lot can change in the next fortnight, but so far, from where I am sat it looks like the owners are short-changing the manager.

And here's another reality - if you want to take another team's key player, they are not likely to sell him to you at what you perceive to be market value. You may have to pay more to prise him away. Value for money is great, but if you want a scarce resource or something of value, something you need to pay the going rate.
