My 3 decisions assuming its 4-2-31 and not my preferred 3-4-1-2

1. Make Mee Captain and if he's fit enough for an hour start him. Mee is a leader and adds balance as a LCB.
2. Play Soumare in the middle. Again adds balance as a LM.
3. Start Seriki instead of Godfrey. I don't expect that to happen and if Godfrey starts Charlton will target him.

I think Wilder will set us up not to lose and go for players he, (mostly) knows, he will want to get the Lane rocking and show that we have some "grit" about us again.

Although I would love to see it I can't see him reverting to 3 at the back although arguably we have the players to do it. I think the biggest decision will be who plays on the right out of Brooks, Chong or Ogbene.

I think he will go for a solid 4-4-1-1;

Coops

Seriki
Tanganga
Mee (if ever there was a Wilder type player, Mee is it)
Burrows

Peck
Matos
Brooks/Ogbene/Chong
Hamer

COH

Campbell

Ultimately when things settle down and everyone is fit I wouldn't mind a 3-5-2 of;

Coops

Tanganga
Mee
McGuiness

Brooks/Ogbene/Chong
Peck/Soumare
Matos
Burrows
Hamer

Campbell
Ings

We’ve not had a proper right back apart from Seriki. Keslor-Hayden should have been signed in the summer.
It's been a real problem.

Since the start of last season we've had Gilchrist, Seriki, Choudhury, Shackleton, Clarke, Godfrey, McCallum and Anel all appearing there at some stage or another with Curtis, Sachdev, Colechin and Polendakov as other options who I doubt we want to chuck in.

Plus any others I might have missed.

If there's a position that should be relatively easy to fill than say, a 20 goal a year striker, then full back should be it, maybe more so with the manager previously having been one.

This weekend may be too soon for Mee, but a pairing of he and Tanganga has the potential to be as good as Anel and Souttar, I think.
JT is an upgrade on Anel, and while Mee doesn't have the physicality of Souttar, I think he makes up for this with his reading of the game, positional sense and leadership / organisation.
I hope Wilder gets a tune out of Godfrey as despite his recent horror show I think he has real quality. Seriki can step in if this doesn't transpire.
Burrows at left back picks himself.

Not at right back anyway.
Not in the team at all. It may be just a job to some of these players, but they need to be taught that wearing the red and white is also a privilege, that comes with responsibilities. And one of those responsibilities is not to quit

Big shame we couldn't bring in Ethan Galbraith in the summer. I know we were linked with him in the summer, but ended up at Swansea. Think he'd fit Wilder's system like a glove, can play at RWB and the centre of midfield, full of energy and possesses real quality.

From what we've seen of Soumare, I think he's looked pretty composed and offers balance as a left footer. Matos might be a safer option though due to more games at this level, though it's difficult to judge on how little we've seen of them.

I'd go for Mee with Tanganga at the back if we're playing with a back 4 if he's match fit. Feel like he could be a Jake Wright in this team and steady the ship.
I think Soumare needs time to get upto speed with the English game where as Matos is clearly there. I have a feeling Soumare is better than Souza in waiting judging by the videos I've seen of him in his old team. If he can apply that to the Championship we have a winner there.

I don't get this about Godfrey. He and Burrows have had no support from Brooks and Barry so they are often trying to deal with two players. The CB have to stay central because there has been no defensive midfield. It is not Godfrey that needs dropping it is Brooks and Barry. Both are ok as impact substitutes but they are not starters

At Ipswich (at the start at least) Brooks was dropping back, but Godfrey was still standing off his man I want to say maybe 2-3m, and was just letting him run.

I think your right in general, but Godfrey had either been told to do it or completely freaked out about the person he had to mark.

I think 8 out of the 11 players Saturday basically pick themselves,

Cooper
__ Tanganga ___ Burrows
Peck _____
Ogbene O’Hare Hamer
Campbell

RB: Seriki or Godfrey
CB: McGuinness or Mee
CM: Matos or Soumare

For me I’d go Seriki and Mee for sure, however it’s trickier to pick between the other 2 as we’ve hardly seen them, but I’d give it Soumare as I’d prefer if it he clicked due to his height.

I think Mee will be captain too!
If we play that formation, Mee, Seriki and Soumare for me. I think that Mee needs to be one of the first names on the sheet, he will bring invaluable experience and a calm head. Not to mention leadership which we have seriously lacked.

I think he will go with

Cooper
Godfrey Tanganga McGuinness Burrows
Peck Matos
Ogbene O'Hare Hamer
Campbell

Im praying for

Cooper
Tanganga Mee McGuinness
Ogbene Peck Matos Burrows
O'Hare Hamer
Campbell

but i dont think everyones ready yet and dont think he will do it
Please not Godfrey on the right

This is assuming he sticks with a back 4 🤷

But if so I think McG starts alongside Tanganga, as we will need his height.

Seriki at RB and Matos alongside Peck would be by picks.
Funny thing about McG height.. He seemed to miss judge every header Friday night jumping under the ball, not seen that happen many times.

Godfrey has been playing tucked in more like a right sided central defender every game he's played, regardless of the support he's had from in front, he's been nowhere near his own man and totally gave up on even pretending to play the other night.

Seriki didn't actually do anything to deserve getting dropped in the first place, we needed someone else who could play right back, but Seriki is a much better defender than a lot of people give him credit for. Selles just had him trying to be the most attacking player and right back simultaneously, which obviously left space in behind.

Wilder said 29k Blades wd pick the same side so I am going for 3 5 2
Cooper
Tanganga Mee McGuiness
Seriki Peck Matos Hamer Burrows
Campbell Ohare
