3 decisions for Saturday

I think 8 out of the 11 players Saturday basically pick themselves,

CB: McGuinness or Mee
CM: Matos or Soumare

For me I’d go Seriki and Mee for sure, however it’s trickier to pick between the other 2 as we’ve hardly seen them, but I’d give it Soumare as I’d prefer if it he clicked due to his height.

I think Mee will be captain too!

my only issue with that is I want to see Ogbene playing his natural position, his ‘view from’ implied his poor performances could’ve been stemming from playing RWB when he’s a winger

I'm not sure O'Hare is a guaranteed starter for me, hugely overrated.

totally agree/understand that but if he plays anything like hes able to anywhere he gets in this team IMO

After listening to wilder’s press conference I am fairly confident he’ll stick to a 4-2-3-1 as he joked it wouldn’t be difficult for the Charlton boss to work out the formation he’ll be playing. It’s not like wilder to say things like that and spring a surprise I don’t think. I wouldn’t mind a 5-3-2 but really think he’ll go back to the formation that got him 92 points.

Can anyone shed any light on why Matos is seemingly way ahead of Soumare for selection? Champ experience last season maybe?

From what we've seen of Soumare, I think he's looked pretty composed and offers balance as a left footer. Matos might be a safer option though due to more games at this level, though it's difficult to judge on how little we've seen of them.

I'd go for Mee with Tanganga at the back if we're playing with a back 4 if he's match fit. Feel like he could be a Jake Wright in this team and steady the ship.

When those of us in the away end were nearer to Ipswich's winger than Godfrey was for most of the first half it's clear he is not a right back.

Biggest decision is system not personnel.

I think we can fit more quality into a 3-5-2

The one thing that Ogbene will bring is the ability and more of a willingness to defend compared to picking Barry or Brooks who I think will both be very much on the outer now.

The 3 behind Campbell will, in my mind, be a combination of Hamer, O'Hare, Ogbene and Chong with Barry and Brooks filling in for injuries or suspensions, maybe Cannon if we want a human shaped traffic cone to plug a gap.

Based on last season and the results we got, I don't think Wilder will deviate hugely from that and his mainstays are likely to play.

4231 is adaptable where if Godfrey starts at RB, Ogbene can always be shifted to RWB and become a back 5 if we need it to, either transitioning in defence or just to close a game out.

I am not sure I have seen anyone playing at RB for us in the last 14 months who gets close to the player they should be marking.
We don’t know what he was told to do nor what CW may tell him.
If he is selected for Saturday and is equally bad then I am sure CW will notice and act accordingly.

Not Convinced Ogbene is nailed on to start, although I would start with him. Agee with the other 7 though.

Fwiw, despite last week Godfrey at RB, Mee at CH ( far better than McGuinness, who i'm not a fan of) Soumare in Midfield

Peck might benefit from being out of the starting line up.

He has played a lot out of necessity. We have other CMs now.

Depending on formation, I'd like to see a base of Matos and Soumare. Would help cover for meandering full backs.
