It was quite a late one last season wasn't it? 2017/18 was a couple of weeks earlier from memory, 22nd June or summat. Away kit a month or so later.

15th June our 17/18 home kit went on sale. I was lucky to get the home kit in time for portugal last year, this year I have no chance I dont think.

I think they delay last year was because they were late sorting out Ramsdens as a sponsor although I might have imagined that.

Can we get shirts this year without sponsors on for sale please, other clubs do this.

Yeah due to sponsorship negotiations. Sounds like the new sponsor is all but don’t so I’d imagine the kit is released quicker and that’s how we announce the sponsor

Just out of interest, and I reckon this'll be pretty bloody divisive in itself, but what are our criteria for our 'ideal' Blades kit?

Not too many/few stripes
With/without black edges to the stripes
Central stripe red
Stripes on the back
Black shorts
Black socks? White socks?
Type of collar?

Providing it's designed well and the stripes are red and white I'm happy. I think too much criteria limits your options and before you know it you end up with the same shit every year

I'm not saying that we need to limit ourselves, more wondering what folk would consider to the the 'typical' United template?

I'd say red and white stripes with black shorts are the only criteria. And more often than not we have a black trim on the shirts.

A proper polo style collar (although I like this season’s v neck)

Black shorts (never white or red)

White or black socks i’m not too bothered but never red

Stripes on the back

I also quite like a black stripe in there as it sets us apart from the other sides who wear red and white stripes. It’s very much a Sheffield United thing.

Round badge (no shield)

It's not just us. I've shown examples of others doing this on here before.

Southampton often have a black pinstripe between the red and white. Brentford too.

Lincoln too have had pinstripes and often go fora black trim.

Stoke have done once before.

Exeter often have black trim on their shirts.

Here are some examples of kits that look like United kits.

If you were to separate anybody apart - Sunderland have never had a black pinstripe on their kits.

Type of collar?
- Central stripe red
- Average stripe width (not blocks, not pinstripes)
- Stripes on the sleeves
- Stripes on the back
- Black collar and black sleeve edges
- Sensibly sized sponsor that is not a daft colour like green

Rocket science it ain't.

This season's kit has got the perfect collar and stripe width for me. Get them on the back and it's perfect.

Also like the three fatter stripes/blocks I suppose and black edges in its various iterations, last season, 1997, and the mid 70s.

Sleeves aren't a deal breaker, think our recent kits have looked smart enough with red/black/white sleeves and trim round the bottom. It's been 5 years without stripes on our sleeves now, but only seems to have really been an issue this season, maybe because of the white back negativity.

Black shorts

White or black socks.

Would be nice to have the black edges/pin stripes back this coming season because Southampton don't have it anymore, they did last season, so it'd make us stand out a bit against them. Although their horrendous kit will make them stand out for other reasons.

I said the same thing Barney. I was there to buy two shirts for my lads birthdays which are next week (causes a nightmare with arguments with the wife when we get to a play off final and the organising of the kids birthday parties!) and because the old shirts are on the way out they're already out of date, but still cost £20 and for the youngest lad they didn't have his size in.

I could buy them earlier in the season and then give them to the lads on their birthdays but then they're already last seasons kits.

And of course, the new kits aren't out yet so I can't get them either. I did say to him, it would be great if the kit came out when the old kit runs out so we don't have two months in the summer when you can't get an in date home shirt, but that seems beyond Adidas, or maybe that's just the way things are I don't know.

Am I imagining it, or did back in the day, we played our last home game in the new kit for the following season, like a sneak preview?

I can remember us doing that last game of the 06/07 Premiership season, but can't remember any others. Highly likely I'm wrong though.

Dunno mate, my memory is shocking these days. The kit thing could well have been one of my fucked up dreams.............

?
>>Not too many/few stripes
medium stripes around 2" wide all of the same width red or white.. no bloody pinstripes ;)

>>Central stripe red
must have

>>Stripes on the back
preferrable

>>Black shorts
prefer black but white is acceptable

>>Black socks? White socks?
white .. anything but red

>>Type of collar?
design irrelevant but must be red

so basically then the 74-5 kit :D

We played in next season's kit in the final game of our promotion season in 2005/06 and the fateful Wigan game we played in the following seasons kit also.

We also played our final Home game of the 2012 season with Stevenage in the new kit. Then who can forget the 1997 Play Off Final. First time we saw the fantastic all white away kit.

bromtom - there may be more occasions, but they're the ones I remember

So basically, of the times I remember, only once did we win in 'next seasons kit'

No, you're not imagining it Crab, but I can only definitely remember us doing that once, circa 2000 but we could well have done it before and after that.
