I don't know who people can be so confident

I was shittin my sen yesterday when we were2 up with 5 mins left

Seriously, I think the difference this season is that we look such a good side, capable of scoring at any time and controlling the game for long periods.
Even under Wilson, we didn't keep the ball as well as we are now so for me that ability to control our position on the pitch and probe in and around their box is the difference between this and any of our previous seasons.

We are much stronger defensively, and the back line is so confident taking the ball out and receiving it under pressure that it creates space for our creative players. Teams are now sitting back to keep it tight in midfield as they would when playing a team from a league or two higher. simply the best side.

And no matter which way you dice it, we might have thought we were decent in previous years but in reality we were kidding ourselves. We are now seeing what difference it makes having proper footballers in midfield.

I'm a realist, and I can see and have for quite a while we are head and shoulders better than the rest of this league. Add a couple more as we think he is, and we will get even better.
That should frighten the likes of Scunny and Bolton, and when they come to the lane we shall see who are the worthy champions.

Exactly. Respect the opposition as no doubt CW drills into them before each game but in all honesty, having seen all the other teams and what this division has to offer against us this season, there is nothing at all to fear. If Utd as a team keep their form they will be champions. Simple as. They key is keeping our form as the positive results will align with it. Ive said this for a while now, but it really is up to Utd now. Promotion and the champions place is there for the taking. There is no other team better than Utd when we play to out potential. On to the next set of Turkeys..

Can't believe how some are so confident. As well as we are playng there are still three teams in this for two automatic spots. There are lots of twists and turns to come, we will have a dip at some point. I believe in positivity but don't like what can be taken as arrogance. Let's enjoy but assuming anything seems foolish to me

we are in the strong position of really only needing draws at home to scunny and bolton , , not saying we play for that just as long as we dont lose they gain nothing
we can win enough points in other games to render these as just dont lose games

But not because we were gash or for a lack of trying. We dominated and were unlucky. We won't lose in that manner again.

I'll bet we do at least once more this season. Tis the way of football. Occasionally teams win games they have no right to...

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We're doing well, but there is a long way to go. I'd be amazed if we went the rest of the season unbeaten. I remember Harry Maguire saying we could go a season unbeaten in 2011, we lost to Wycombe the following week!

The one thing for me that makes me feel confident, is all the positive comments from opposition fans and management and even football pundits now.
Never known anything like this before.

Off course as others have said the footballing God's could have their say.
The injury to Curruthers or an injury to Sharp could cost us, especially when the transfer window closes.

The week we play Bolton and Scunthorpe could be make or break.

A problem also that week could be that it looks like we may have to squeeze the rescheduled trip to Oxford in that midweek as well.

Yes I agree - if we avoid defeat against those 2 then we dont lose ground ,and they have to play each other again so at least one of them will drop points and possibly both. If we managed to win both I would believe totally that we will win the league never mind just promotion !

I agreed with Chris's point yesterday that the January games are crucial. February games will "look after themselves". If we can maintain our current advantage going into February I'd be confident.

The known unknown would be serious injuries to strikers. I think we have enough good players to cope with defensive and midfield injuries but particularly if Billy and another striker gets an injury I would worry.

Let's face it we haven't had it this good for a long long time.

Old footballing cliche but totally hits the bulls eye. We keep doing what we are doing and no other team can stop us.
Simple as that.even if Bolton win their game in hand they are still 3 points behind.
Yes I'm a blade since before the drop to the old 4th division so I really do know the pain of following my team, but it just feels so different at BDTBL at the moment, confidence is everywhere, the players are still fighting at 90 +4 when 3-0 up, something not seen since warnock days, and for the first time in god knows how long even when the opposition scores first ala bury no one seems worried any more,
So yes I believe we will gain promotion and easily but only if we continue doing it the way we have been.
Hard work and commitment.
UTB.

What an odd question. Of course they won't.
Another important factor with the fixtures is that we have now played all the top teams away except Rochdale. We've gained 6 points from 5 games Abd been the best team in all of them:

Scunny: drew with ten men and came back from a goal down.
Bolton: lost as the better team succumbing to a wonder strike and very much in our sticky start.
Bradford: drew an entertaining game scoring thrice.
Fleetwood: drew from a goal down.
Southend: dismantled them despite the opposition being on a 13 game unbeaten streak.

Some creditable draws in there as well. Not as if we were flying like we are now either.

Imagine Roots Hall isn't going to witness 4 straight defeats to Bolton, Rochdale and Scunny either.

Onto Walsall. And we owe them one.
