2 Wins in 8

By January, Adkins will had another load of Fortune Cookies to quote, and hopefully some Christmas Cracker Jokes

2 in 8? So what. We still don't need to sign anyone before January. We won't fall behind our rivals, we'll be OK, we always are aren't we? Oh... hang on.

Tbh, it's hard to believe we are only 4 points off auto with only two wins in eight. A few more poor results should sort that out tho :D

What could've been tho, had our board gone out with real purpose to support NA and strengthened where it needed strengthening with the apparent Murphy mpney

Pull yer finger out board

B58, I like your posts and they are generally very reasoned. But, I don't know how you know that the board hasn't supported NA? For all we know the board may have given the green light to recruit. With regards to Hammond, I think the hold up is at the Leicester end and they may be placing unreasonable demands on the move.
Seems unfair to keep blaming the board when nobody knows for sure 100% why we have not strengthened in key areas.
For me, just let the people who know how to run the club to get on with it. New arrivals will land when they do.
NA is no muppet and will get it right whether this year or next - but he will.
Next summer there will be a clear out and NA will build his old team devoid of the dross that is clogging up progress.
Keep the faith and UTB!

The problem with leaving it until next season to sort the squad out properly is that it'll be a much stronger division. Even if Adkins gets his own squad together we could be just as likely to fail as we currently are this season.

Interested to know why it will be a much stronger division next season.

Don't three teams come down every season?

Currently this is the piss poor league of piss poor leagues I've seen in a whole group of piss poor leagues in the past piss poor five seasons. If we can't get auto from this piss poor league of all piss poor leagues we might as well turn it into a feckin piss poor rugby club.
And barnyblade masquerading as Leonardo Green is a piss poor disguise ;) and I challenge barnyblade NOT to join in the pending piss poor meltdown after another piss poor result.

I thought last seasons league one was bad
But this one takes the piss ,if we strengthen in jan (we all know which areas of the side) and the newboys can inspire the current mob to pit a bit of effort in
We could still romp this league

We all know it ,but do the keystone contract negotiators ?

If we're still four points off the auto's come Jan I'll be delighted...

I agree that this season's L1 is terrible and it is likely to be a scrap to the title. Anyone can and will finish top 2 and the play offs will be impossible to pick a winner from.
This year is the best chance we have had while down here but it will not be easy as there are possibly another 20 teams who think the same as we do

A proper midfield will provide for the strikers and protect the defence. It must start with someone like Hammond being appointed and hopefully before January.

Mak, I've stuck a like against your post about my post, because you make good points against what I've written.

I base my remarks on what I see and from what is said, so yes, it's just an opinion

It seems absolutely clear to me that NA wishes to strengthen. I base that on the perennial shenanigans of the last transfer deadline day, where NA conceded he almost got player(s) over the line
For me there are only two reasons why we haven't progressed in the transfer market. The first imo is NA himself. Whether his targets are realistic, or whether he refuses to move on to other targets, or indeed both, I don't know

The second reason imo, is the board themselves. Are they supporting NA in getting those targets over the line?

The frustration for me of course is that because I believe NA requires additions and they are not forthcoming, then the logical outcome is that the responsibility lies with the board

Jimbob states that the Murphy money is to put back into the first team squad and yet the season is slowly passing us by with no movement. 2 wins from the last 8 games tells it's own story

Here's where the frustration kicks in. We amble on. Waiting for the Jan window is like listening to a broken record, Frankly, it's become tiresome and so repetitive. Action to remedy our short comings needs to be now and should have been weeks ago. If the loan cubs are reluctant to part with their players, then fine move on. If the loan club have moved the goal posts and we won't play ball, then fine move on. If we can't afford those said players, then fine move on. If we won't pay for those players, then fine move on. Are we saying that NA has no plan B? I don't buy that and because I don't buy that, I point the finger toward the board

Most importantly and above all that, I see no reason why the board should not at least keep us in the picture with as much information as they can, but so as not to compromise their position in any dealings. Saying nothing to the loyal, paying fans which generates much of this bull crap conjecture on this and other boards does nothing to help the situation and imho is a no no.

The problem is that this 'new' team might be third division standard on 2/3 year contracts leaving us stuffed in 2017 assuming we've gone up.

We really must get out this year, it's shit or bust.

Always proved fruitful waiting till January

Mug's game. What you do in Jan is ship a couple out, then wait till the loan window opens "because no-one ever sells good players in January, they hang onto them". But dont climb in on Feb 1, wait until Feb 27, so your loanees are here "for the business end of the season".

Brought to you by the antidote to Jimmy White's TDDA - the FBTC.

I would say it's time to get involved, however if we haven't done anything about our problems by the 31st, why bother. Nobody did in August.

Do you think that might be the problem? That the board will only sanction the signing of players who they are confident will be able to step up? That they will 'borrow' from what they planned to spend in the championship so won't risk signing 'potential', just players proven at a level above?

This same board gave Clough carte blanche to buy/recruit any number of - generally useless - players, members of his family etc. If the board are 'once bitten, twice shy', it's understandable.

pure speculation
as are every single one of your comments
its took portsmouth 3 seasons to get near the top of division 2 suddenly now they have micheal doyle a player you wanted chucking out
they are better than us, or soon will be

its such a pity you cant see any improvement in the future for the club you pretend to support

It could be but I'm not convinced that signing players for the league above is the way forward.

This is our fifth year at this level and any investment in 'step up' players 2/3 seasons ago has been a waste as their contracts end at the end of this season, we may still be here and we have a major re-build ahead.

In my mind we should buy the best third division players off clubs like Bury, Rochdale etc (Done being a great example) as well as taking the best off the local clubs like Barnsley, Chesterfield (Morsey anyone?).

If we have a gap like we do now with centre halves get someone in for a month, if he can't be extended get another one in for the next month until you can land your permanent target. These month long loans (as long as they are fit) can't be as bad Collins and McEverly if the scouts have done their homework.

The scouts should be the hardest working section of the back room staff, we need to demand more of them.

the simple answer is we want to only bring in players that are better than what we have
if its a centre half at Forest Green Rovers so be it
so long as it adds to our back four
we dont want to waste our resourses on a player who is no better option than those in the shirts now

Our centre backs must be good then ,weve bern looking for an improvement in that position since maguire went

2 wins in 8 but only 4 defeats in 13 which means 9 positive results
burton suffered their 4th defeat yeasterday

theres plenty of time and scope to improve , still waiting for full fitness to several key players , and Dones starting to hit form
stunning finish from him yesterday

but lets not see any good points
lets all take every negative we can find
and keep bringing them up again and again and again
so as not to sound like squealing little pigs eh

Wheras as yours aren't even based on this planet!

Why did I want Michael Doyle chucking out? I've never expressed strong opinions on Doyle.

Making things up again?
