Dont shoot me for asking this. But should/could the Premier League give us 2 extra points?? The idea of goal line technology was to cut out errors like this. Just asking.

They can't do that, there's no guarantee that the game would have ended 1-0 if they'd given the goal.

They'll just make they're usual mealy-mouthed apologies and skulk back off into the corners and chuckle about how they've fucked us over.

Rather than take the knee ( what a joke) fir the next match, the players should carry a goal onto the pitch and place a ball beyond the post then point at an imaginary watch

Can't see it myself, they don't want us to finish near top so they will do all they can to stop us
Conspiracy theory......are the EPL concerned enough to try and prevent us from qualifying for the Champions league at the expense of one of the more ‘acceptable‘ clubs like Spurs and Arsenal and if so,how far would they go to achieve this.

Yes they should. The world is changing for the better to give fairness, transparency and equality. No better example than this to start with with.

The EPL should review the footage. Admit they’ve made an error. Award the correct points and everyone’s a winner. Stops the pressure they’re under and the results fair. I don’t see a more reasonable option than this.

I get it you’ve been let down by GLT but getting extra points and a replay is bonkers.
Let it go.

I really hate to say it but I completely agree. It's not going to happen and, furthermore, it should not happen.

Hopefully it'll be like the last Villa travesty and we go on to win the next seven.

90 minutes (Plus stoppage time) of football were played and Aston Villa scored 0 goals, Sheffield United scored 1 goal. Both teams come away with 1 point each? 🤷‍♂️

The Referee did not award you a goal. Goals have been scored in games before and have not been awarded. It is........
just one of those things.
Sometimes you get it, others you don’t. You didn’t. The final whistle has been blown and the referees note book says 0-0.

A pig on a Blades forum in the early hours wumming to fresh air 🤔

Come on guys let it go.

After all we've been treated well this season by the authorities when it comes to VAR decisions.......

Out of all the times we’ve been fucked by bizarre and unfair circumstances this ranks somewhere in the middle.

We’ll just have to suck this one up. Given the fact we were second best on the night it’s easier to take.

Having said that I’d like to know what the Lino saw. Between the Lino, ref and VAR you have 3 additional pairs of eyes on the goal that are redundant because the technology is supposedly infallible.

I’d hope the authorities would at least learn from this mistake and amend the rules accordingly so it doesn’t happen again.

Nothings going to change now. As far as I can tell it’s already been brushed under the carpet.
I just don’t understand why VAR didn’t intervene. The whole reason for VAR was to stop howlers, instead all it’s done has scratched off goals for toenails ‘apparently’ being offside!!
The other thing that wound me up. Why the hell are we having a 2/3 mins drinks break in the first place? And then only awarding 4mins injury time?? Again this is something that the officials do that I can’t fathom... how do they work injury time out? Random number generator? Incompetent buffoons!

I'm hearing all sorts of shit quotes this morning, such as Dermot Gallagher on SSN:

"The ref's watch didn't buzz, so he can't give the goal".

Why can't he? The process should be the ref decision first, then look to the technology. Not the other way around. The above quote almost suggests that the refs are being more passive, paying less attention "oh it'll be alright, if it goes in, the watch will let me know..."

The thing is that you cant say for sure that that game last night would've ended 0:1 but you can certainly say it wouldn't have ended 0:0, but to me a precedent was set in our game at highbury, when a perfectly legal goal was scored but Wenger requested and received a replay

My alarm didn’t go off this morning for work, but I woke up at that time anyway and could see the time on the clock. But, because my alarm clock didn’t go off, I can’t go in.

That’s Dermot’s rationale.

Guesty makes a good point. It would be wrong to award revised points or give us extra points. If that happened every game would become a negotiation after the fans had gone home. Hawkeye should be have a heavy fine imposed on them, the 1 point could save Villa, relegate Watford, cost us millions missing out on Europe and make Man Utd millions qualifying for Europe all unjustly because of their error.

Have the Premier League even acknowledged it yet? I’ll be surprised if they even do.
