I am permanently traumatised by the memory of the play off final v Huddersfield. Penalties. We were 3-1 up in the shoot out. We only had to score one of our remaining two and they had to score both their remaining two. We missed both, they scored both and eventually Simmo put his over the bar. Against that background we can easily blow an 11 point lead!

We scored the 2nd and 5th pens, Hudders who took the pens first scored 4th and 5th pens. We were 2-1 down when Porter took the 5th

We have lost 5 games so far, 4 by 1 goal and 1 by 2.

A 12 point swing is 4 wins/losses

So even if we lost the next 4 games by 2 goals, (-8gd) Blackburn would need to win 4 games by 14 clear goals, or 3.5 margin for 4 consecutive games.

If we loose by the odd goal, which is pretty much how we have lost so far, they would need a 18 goal margin, which is almost 5-0 in those 4 games

If that happens they deserve it, as do we.

Another post from our resident attention seeker.

Go on then I'll bite.

Anybody who thinks this season is all over bar the shouting is deluded.
There is a long long way to go. (im sure theres a song title in there somewhere)
And to quote Shakespeare 'theres many a slip twixt the cup and the lip'.

Yes we are in a great position. A position earned by some quality players who are lead by a more than able management team.
But we are Blades. Who on more than one occasion over the years have managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

A lot will depend on what happens in January. Will we see improvemnts made to the squad rather than our better players being sold off?
It wouldnt be the first time our best assets are sold when we are in a great postion and lesser players are moved in.

All we can do is hope for the continuing run of victories to continue under Hecky. Thats the only way we ll get to where we want to be. Win more than the chasing pack.

And should we get to where we want to be at the end of this season , how do you think the mood will be this time next season???
We could well be where Florist are now. Getting thumped every match! The gap now is phenominally huge regarding the investment needed to stay there.
And we have never been a club to spend big have we.
