I had just moved house and my in-laws (both football haters) were helping us. Told them I had to see my mum for something important (my mum had agreed that my in-laws would get mad if they find out that I was on the way to the match so my mum and my wife had agreed to the "set up!"). Very glad I went to the match and my in-laws never suspected a thing!
 
I was on a school trip in Italy that day, wearing the Midas-sponsored home shirt, and lied about having to make an emergency call home to get away from the group briefly and find out the result from a pay phone near the Trevi fountain. I say lied – for me that absolutely was an emergency call.
 
Good turn out from the Blades fans that day, away end, cheese slice and a good 300 on their south stand.

I'm pretty sure we were favourites that day.

Trig Jnr (TY) must be younger than you, 14 at the time, but that was the day I realised just how much United had come to mean to him. He was at the end of a row in the Leppings Lane Upper when the Asaba header went in. It seemed to go in slow motion, but as it went in, Young Trig was off down the steps to the front, fists pumping in celebration. Fantastic memory for me, I must ask him if he even remembers it :-)
 
Last time I went to a derby on the away end (well north stand) with the missus, (A pig / rather nice but still a pig). Anyway she was that scared of me getting noticed (used to work and live in the area) that it took the edge off the win slightly. Strange match nowhere near as memorable as any of our other victories there. Also it was when the stupid stewards started pulling out blades, holding their arms behind their backs for piggies to have a free swing. Did not stop me slagging all their players off one by one as a home fan would. Got lots of agreement from all around. Though as I was leaving I heard my name shouted to turn round to see a blade work mate manage to smile without smiling, if you know what i mean. Class.

The then 7 year old Bert Jnr was also up in that stand, Bert still has the drawing that Jnr did of D'Jaffo belting the ball into the back of the net.
