17/18 ticket prices released

It's the slippery slope. When we're in this division for 5 years as they have been, would you bet against ticket prices hitting the £40 mark? I certainly wouldn't.

I wouldn't bet loads against it. but I'd be tempted to put a quid or two down.

McCabe has his weaknesses but he does know the club, and he knows for a fact if he takes the piss with prices, we simply won't pay it. We're not like our porcine neighbours who seem happy to stump up silly amounts to have their ego's stroked by the 'massive' lie. I don't care how good the football is; if prices reach those kinds of levels I won't be going. I wouldn't be able to afford it.

The UK inflation rate for May 2017 was 2.9%. Applying this compound for 5 years gives......... £ 41.53.

That would clearly be a 'massive rip off' by McCabe.

Actually if he re-routed the Sheaf over the pitch he'd be on very boggy ground or underwater.
Just sayin like.

Thanks for highlighting my poor choice of metaphor. I was trying to make fun of the Sty, but as they say, a picture paints a thousand words.....

Thank you Mr McCabe . Great pricing all round ...... again :)

“WE DO not think fans are like cows who you milk, football has got to be for everybody. That’s the biggest difference between us and England.”

Sums it up perfectly

Milk away McCabe ...

If the prices hit those levels I'd certainly go to less games (unless the season tickets are still the good deal they are now). But judging by the way demand soared at the end of last season I reckon if the football is good and we're doing well there's enough that would be willing to pay it and take our places.

A £4 increase over the next 5 years for A* matches wouldn't seem overly excessive to me. If we were charging £40 you can bet the pigs and others with similar delusion will be charging £50-60 for these matches.

Well I hope that the club does know its demographic, because the pricing is currently knocking on the door of unreasonability (if that's a word).
Fans in many countries would be up in arms if English prices were applied.

But of course, the English will suck it up and do as they're told like good little supplicants.

£30 to sit on our kop crosses the line for me, no matter how many A's or stars you give the match. If, as it obviously will, include the Pigs match it will hurt but I won't be there.

I get that. I get the way football is going, sadly, and I get that there will still be plenty of people who'd still snap tickets up.

But for me and my current income, if I didn't have a season ticket and prices got up there, I wouldn't be able to afford to go. It wouldn't be for the lack of wanting.

All hypothetical, of course. I sit on the Kop, so if Kop prices reached £40 it'd be fucking carnage, especially on here!

I wasn't planning on being there anyway. I love watching the Blades live apart from the derby games, which are tortue. It will be bad enough watching on Sky

About as unfair a comment as you could wish for.

Last season we had a price CUT.

Prior to that prices were frozen for several seasons.

We have made a loss for the last 8 years and on other transfer threads people are urging we bid more for Leonnard/Holmes etc and accuse McCabe of being tight.

Oh well, I suppose it is back to the magic money tree to make up the difference again.

I think they're pretty fair. I get where you're coming from, and change does need to be forced, but if you look across the landscape of this division I don't think you can really knock the club for their efforts here.

My memory isn't what it was, but I swear it could be £30+ for big games on the Kop about 6 years ago before we went down.

Might be wrong.

Yeah I'm the same. The season ticket offer was too good for me to not take this time around, but if they went up to silly prices or the matchday prices did, I'd be making the 60 mile trek to S2 a lot less especially as I have travel costs on top.

We've not had much of a price increase for a while though so it had to be expected.

Facts facts facts. Give it a rest ffs.

We have made a loss for the last 8 years

I think this argument is redundant when it comes to football clubs.

They're not really set up to 'make a profit' as the money will be simply shuffled elsewhere if they do... look at Manure, they post a £3.8 million loss (Jan-March) whilst revenue continues to rise.

You could well be right, like you I don't remember, however, I know I have not paid that much for a kop ticket. Then as now I would pay what I think is reasonable. Don't like the category system, it is United that I go to support not the opposition.

My memory might be playing tricks but didn't there used to be Cat D games at one point?

Fuck me, calm down everyone, United have no track record of ripping off their fans. It's what sets us apart. Me, I paid next to fuck all for a senior's ST, even comparable with these much vaunted European prices people are so fond of quoting. The moaners on here should be delighted to stump up an extra few quid on match day tickets to subsidise us oldies and keep us going anyway. Excellent display of socialist thinking by the club, wouldn't you agree TD?

Singling out one set of figures is absolute nonsesne and it was just an issue of timing of receipts and payments in that quarter.

In the same quarterley release that showed the above loss, they increased their guidance prediction for the full year:

Ed Woodward, Executive Vice Chairman, commented, “As we near the end of the season, I am delighted we have picked up two trophies so far, and look forward to competing for a third in the Europa League final, the only trophy we have never won. We are forecasting better full year financial performance than expected and as such have raised our revenue and profit guidance for the year. We look forward to a strong finish to 2016-17, both on and off the pitch.”

If pretending that we don't really make a 'loss' justifies you putting the boot into McCabe, then you are beyond help.

Quite a leap of imagination there...well done.

The point I'm making is that not many football clubs appear to make a profit, no matter how successful, so to state 'but we've not made a profit for the last 8 years' (I'm guessing it's a lot more than 8 years btw) for levels of investment is a bit daft.

It's all down to the owner's chucking in...I mean I'm guessing we made a loss the year McCabe spunked a wad of cash over Robson, right?

Eh? I posted a quote with a source so not sure where the 'imagination' comes from

I'm really struggling to understand that.

No, I guess we made a profit that year with the parachute payment and CheatinAmmers money but I can't be sure. If you'd made a more convincing argument, I might have been arsed to actually check it out.
