For anyone driving who is in need of parking, you can book online before hand here - http://www.walktrot.com/Football.htm

I usually either park in that one or the Black Horse pub just up the road (they'll ferry you up to the Ricoh in the car usually too, if you are lazy :D).

Hopefully it might be a little better than last time around

Think we might get something out of the game. I thought Coventry were really poor when they came to the Lane and we were the better side (despite losing). I think thay are in an inflated league position (they've been lucky) and whilst I rate Bothroyd, I think they are not a very good side.

I think our passion and belief could get something out of the game. The problem is our defence. We have to stop leaking goals and giving teams a head start. If we keep it tight for the first half I think we have every chance.

I'd like to see us play 4-4-2:

-------- SS

Lowton* Nos Bartley Kozzy

Ward Williamson Monty Yeates**

-----Ched Boggy

Like I said I think Covenrey are beatable and would like to see us go out an attack them. I wouldn;t be averse to Adams going 4-5-1 and Britton comin in for Boggy. This would be with the premise that Ward and yeates work really hard to get up and support Evans.

I'm going for a 2-2, but think we might sneak this.

* not sure if he is fit, so if not then maybe Parrino?
** unlikely to be fit, so I'd go probably play Calve wide right and Ward out left.

Can Yeates be fit a week after dislocating his shoulder?

Franz Beckenbaur played the whole match in the 1974 world cup semi final with a dislocated shoulder!? Not sure whether this is a sarcastic post, but either way I'd guess (I am certainly no physio) that he'd be out for up to a month.

I would be astonished if he played Saturday. Its an injury ive sustained a couple of times and it can be very sore for a couple of weeks. I used to just get someone to help me jam it back on and carry on playing but that is not advisable. You tend to find it causes the problem to reoccur more easily.

He will be under strong recommendation to rest it and let the joint get comfortable again. If he plays then all respect to him but as someone who knows what its like, I would prefer to see him air on the side of caution.

But he was one of the half-dozen greatest players of all time: Truly majestic whether in defence or midfield. I would happily have him in the team with two or three broken bones, in preference to some of our lot.

Hear hear. I'd pay for the Kaiser to fly over and stick him in the centre of the park for Sat-di's game.

I think they will be too organised for us to score on Satdi. Boothroyd teams are normally hard to break down and Coventry will be in this mentality at the weekend. Last year we battered them and still lost 3-2. Wardy scored a good one though.

The Ricoh is a horrible ground - much preferred their old stadium at Highfield Road, in the city
- The new one is like walking around the Tesco Extra next door - simliar atmosphere as well.

Got a feeling that we'll grab 3 points on Saturday now Micky has had a chance to impart his passion and organisational skills. Saying that we're still 2-3 players short at the back so I can see goals aplenty yet again. 3-1 Blades.

I too much prefered Highfield Road. Really hope we never do similar in my lifetime and shift to a retail park bowl.

Me too.

I could never understand the point of Coventry's move. The new ground holds only 9,000 more than the old and Highfield Road was in good knick - they'd spent a fair amount upgrading it in the early 1990's. And of course, they don't tend to draw very well in comparison with capacity. This wasn't like Bolton, Reading or Derby where the ground was primitive or a dump, or like Arsenal where it was obvious that they could sell many more tickets.

I haven't been to the Ricoh, so can't really comment. I quite liked Highlfield road though and was surprised when they moved. I didn't realise that the new ground only held 9k more. I liked the atmosphere at Highfield Road too. Anyone remeber the FA cup game in the mid 90's? There were 4/500 Blades and a packed out stadium. Coventy were a decent premiership outfit with Dion Dublin and a young Darren Huckerby. We drew 1-1 and took them back to the Lane and beat them on penalties. Holdsworth scored a last minute equaliser (scissor kick if my memory serves me rightly!?) to take it to extra time. The first game at Highfield Road was a cracker and the atmosphere was great. I remember a boxing day fixture there when the atmosphere was good too. A move like Readings (Elm Park was a tiny shithole) is underastandable, but (based on what is said above) the Coventry moves seems pointless.

I was going to go to this, but our lass has got me going to her mates birthday bash. We've come to a compromise of me going to Ipswich in early Feb.

Thinking back to the game earlier this season, we struggled to break Coventry down. As Kennilworth says Boothroyd's sides are well organised. However at the Lane I thought we had chances (Ched missed a sitter at the end) and I thought it was our toothlessness (rather than Coventry being difficult to break down) that cost us. I think if Coventry take the lead then we might be in trouble. Like they did earlier this season, they would justy sit back and say 'come on then, break us down'. I think we have every chance in this game and wouldn't be surprised in a any outcome (apart from a goal less draw!)

My key memories of that game are Macello's goal, followed by him removing his shirt, revealing another United shirt underneath, and Kachouro's open goal miss in injury time. It was indeed a superb atmosphere.

A great performance from a severely depleted team. I remember the Match of the Day preview:

[Shot of Deano] "he's been sold"
[shot of Fjortoft] "and him"
[shot of Saunders] "he's suspended"
[shot of Rush, presumably mentioned because people have at least heard of him] "he's cup tied"

My last visit there, in 2001-2, saw us lose 1-0 despite being much the better side. Page headed in a corner which was headed out when it had crossed the line: no goal given. That was the third time I've seen that happen to United...

Remember it well Rev. Marcelo didn't get a look in all afternoon as Dublin had him in his pocket. Suddenly Marcelo got a lucky break. Dublin tackled him and the ball rebounded off both there legs and landed back at Marcelo's feet. He made no mistake blasting in a shot from 15 yards. Think it was the equalier after a Dublin penalty. He sent Kelly the wrong way (but Kelly was to get his rvenge at the Lane a week and a half later).

Katchouro's miss was astonishing, though you have to give soem credit to Ogrizovich. I remember it clear as day. We were defending a corner and there was only Katchouro up front. Everyone else was in our area. We won a header and the ball fell to Graham Stuart. There were seconds left and to relieve the pressure he sent a long, side footed curling ball down the pitch. It looked like it might go out of play, but stayed in. All the United fans were clapping for the relief of pressure, when suddenly Katchouro was bearing down on Ogrizovich (the nearest Coventry player to the ball). Katchouro tackled the Coventry keeper and had a clear run in on goal. Everyone around me was like 'hit it', but the Kat decided to run it in. He took an eternity and Ogrizovich was able to catch him and smother the shot. It would have been a fitting end (from a Blades perspective) to a great performance.

You've got your very favorite to deputise for him Nick Beckenmonty:D

Geez. Monty and Quinn the Beckenbaur and Cryuff* of the modern game. What do you think Pinchy?? ;)

* also a strong candidate for being in the top half a dozen players of all time

Agreed mate. It's all very subjective but most people would include some or all of the following [No goalkeepers allowed!]:

Pele [unquestionably head and shoulders above the rest]

Cruyff
Maradona
Best
Platini
Beckenbauer
Zidane
Montgomery.

I've probably missed someone obvious out - No Quinny, not you!

I also used to like Stoke's Victoria Ground - traditional old ground, good atmosphere - but can understand why they had to move. There is plenty of noise at the Brtiannia but being on a hill the wind whisltes through but paradoxically it always smells of damp moss. Went through Stoke twice yesterday and it was raining all the time - which probably explains it.

I just hope they've cleaned the pigeon poo off the seats from last year, scruffy twats. Stewards kept saying "but you've got to sit in your allocated seat's" Caked in poo that a bombay shitehawk would have been quite proud of.

I`ve got no clue...

Wont be surprised to see at "brand new" starting line-up.

I would like to see:

Simmo

Parrino-Ertl-Bartley-Mattock

Ward-McAllister-Monty-Quinn

Philliskirk

Evans

But I have no clue:)

UTB!

I have three recollections of Coventry

Firstly I was at the first ever home game in the First Division in 1967. 2-2 and we were escorted to the ground by the local police - probably after some of our fans went nicking in the town centre Woolies. Very strange as we had our fans and their fans on the away end chatting and generally having a good time

Secondly when I went to College in Leeds in 1969 there was a contingent from Cov and it seems that Cov was very much a rich white middle class city (loads of car plants there) with loads of cash on the hip. They were very arrogant.

Thirdly spent 6 months in Premier Lodge looking after a Telesales unit that was going into meltdown due to the current Manager having staff issues. I shut it down but whilst I was thereI noticed how the city had changed. It had become very shabby and that awful ring road on stilts...... Also no Christmas lights but they did have Winter Lights. My office - in Coventry Point (tower in the city centre) overlooked the very same Woolies......

Horrible place

I reckon coventry have had 8 shots and 12 corners. How are we still in this?

Decent point that. Clean sheet too.

Certainly didn't sound like a classic. But a decent, 'battling performance. Shame Squnniy didn;t take his chance to give Micky his first win (though it sounds like we got lucky with McSheffrey hitting the post and missing a sitter)

Well done Blades.

Agreed, a good point. We badly needed a clean sheet after what's been happening, hopefully we can start playing a relatively settled defence for the rest of the season.

Just got back. Simmo's best game for ages. Yes was a shame with Quinn, a few yards out to the left of the net. If he'd just tried to lob the keeper I'm sure he'd have scored. Good support from the Blades. Ref up to the usual standards.
