I fear you won't be exactly spoiled for choice, but there is a MOTM poll...

When was the last time we lost the opening home match of the season?

Last year, Port Vale :D

Unless you mean league only, in which case it was 95/96 I think, 2-0 to Tranmere.

Ok ill write this as objectively as I can given the manager situation.

Very poor performance, but it's only the 2nd game. Individuals didn't turn up.

Thought Ched played decent up top, so let's hope he shakes off his knock.

We weren't too bad 1st half, but we allowed ourselves to be carved open at the back especially on the counter! Fullbacks were very poor, positioning crap.

I was excited to see how Britton would knock the ball about. I shouldn't have bothered! He did nowt!

Wardy, dangerous but wasteful. Quinn, crap as usual. Month appeared to be the one player picking the ball up from our centrehalves and at least trying to pass it. Thought Monty did the rest of his job fairly ok too.

2nd half was inept and lacking everything! The subs had no impact at all.

Officials were terrible, ruined the game in many ways and were terribly inconsistent.
But it's still so early, can never judge until 10 games in anyhow, so regardless of the manager my early season thoughts are all on hold!

Just seen the Evans penatly shout. How the hell did the linesman/woman not see it??? Never made contact with the ball!!

Because it's becoming fairly clear we're going to have the world record for blatent penalty shouts ignored this year.

Took his legs and never touched the ball you say? Corner, obviously! It's not like I could see it from half way on the John Street or owt.

The Ched one at Cardiff was staggering but no-one cared since we scored seconds later.

The one in front of the lino on Saturday was one those awful moments where you look to the ref, look to the lino, then realise we're just not going to score today.

MOM should go to anybody who stayed until the final whistle.

That's a fine photo of us lining up for the "presentation of the teams" Linz.

I suggest a new competition if you can take a similar one each game.

"How many mascots will be taller than Leon Britton this season"?

I reckon 1 from Saturday but it was damn close to two. I think we'll probably get well into double figures (15).

This raises a wider point - why, when he was intent on playing two midfielders who are 5 feet 7 or under as often as possible, did Blackwell extend both their contracts and sign another who was 5 foot 5? Wouldn't it have been useful to try to get some height in the midfield?

We're going to be paying the price for some of the decisions made this close season for some time to come, unfortunately.

Ertl was supposed to be the midfield muscle wasn't he? Smart move putting him at right back against a manager who knows he's too slow to be one wasn't it? Who was that bloke we got beck from Barnsley again?

I've never joined the Sunshine gang because I've never seen it as all his fault, but had he not gone on Sat I may have considered putting in an application.

Indeed. The worrying thing about the resigning of both Quinn and Monty (and, for that matter, Kozluk's return) was that we did it just because it gave us some warm bodies, and there was no thought about what they might actually do, given that we had brought in other players who can also play in midfield.

There have been other signings like this, of course, Ryan France being the prime example.

Splitting up Ertl and Morgan on Saturday was fixing something that wasn't broken. They did well together at Cardiff. I can understand it if Ertl was to go into midfield but the midget logjam prevented that.

I've never joined the Sunshine gang because I've never seen it as all his fault

There's no doubt in my mind that primary responsibility for our decline post May 2007 lies elsewhere....
