Hats off to these guys, what a group of players we have.

To endure those last 10 mins at Villa, the finger pointing, the clear frustration of it all, then to lose two of the key players to how we play.....and to have to play the physical aerial bombardment of Middlesboro......

I'm sure I wasn't the only person to look at that lineup and wince, I was deflated before the game even started as I'm sure there were hundreds if not thousands more. The players are also human, did they also feel that same underwhelming feeling?! They're human, they should have.

But did they fuck, to a man that performance following the previous game will have had them all feeling 10 feet tall in that dressing room after.

Thankyou Stearman, so often I've written you off, but tonight, you were 10 foot tall.
Thankyou Stevens, Centre half, missing your left sided pal....you were 10 fot tall.
Thankyou Madine, you came on and you bullied them...you were 10 foot tall
Thankyou Sharpy, best player on the pitch, touch of a master craftsman, never hid, you were 10 foot tall
Thankyou Egan, the warrior of the side, missing your pals beside you, but made two more, you were 10 foot tall.
Thankyou Cranie, two superb performances now when we truly needed them, you were 10 foot tall.
Thankyou Hendo, dominated that 6 yard box, got on with his job, no fuss, max concentration, you were 10 foot tall.
Thankyou Dowell, inexperienced number 10.... playing LWB!!!! Ran your socks off, literally, you were 10 foot tall.

Norwood,, what a delivery, Fleck, finally 2nd half getting stuck in, what we love him for, McG...well.....if you shot harder than you controlled the ball ..... :D

Believe, these guys are special!

I'm Happy :D

Kinell, for a minute then I thought you were suggesting Madine should try playing in stilettos.

I admit when I saw the team, I thought we would get battered. After the Barnet farce, I was convinced our backup squad was not good enough. Hard to believe now that Stearman, Dowell and Cranie (and Coutts) started that match. We may well need others to come in with big performances in the next few weeks, but that was one hell of an effort they all put in last night.

United didn't have to endure anything against Villa, the capitulation was entirely of their own making. It was up to them to redeem themselves against Boro', which happily they did. And we have a squad of decent players now who can absorb one or two absences. The rebound didn't surprise me but by the sounds of it, it did you.

You expected us to bully and dominate Middlesboro when you saw that lineup, fair play but I call bullshit.

It really is becoming Fortress Bramall Lane.

We’ve won the last four games at home without conceding a goal. (The last goal we conceded at home was Harry Wilson’s wonder free kick, a minute after we should have been awarded a penalty...but I digress.) And those four games haven’t been entirely straightforward; games we might have drawn or even lost last season. Very, very impressive. This team is maturing into something very special.

I coud’nt sleep last Friday night, kept seeing Billy’s face in his hands and replays of our gifts to Villa taunted me all night.
I don’t think I’ve ever felt so bad after a draw.I stayed away from anything football related for 3 whole days afterwards to aid my recovery.
Slept like a baby last night.
Best win of season for me but I’m guessing it will be surpassed with every win from now on..

But, if pigs win the next six games and we don't get another point they will be on the same points as us Nooopoo

:)

When I worked out what line up was I was delighted that we could finally reshuffle the team without involving Lundstram and the negative results that brought to bear in the past. I didn't even realise JOC wasn't playing until about 5 minutes into the game. The rest of your post is as you described and childish.

Against the physicality of Boro, who schooled it aerially at their place, you seriously were confident with a back 3 of Cranie Egan and Stevens?

United played with their WB/FB's a lot deeper last night and this negated Boro' from wanging crosses in for their big men in the middle a la Villa. I was a bit concerned when Baldock went off but the addition of Stearman bolstered us up at the back even more. So no, Boro's physicality didn't concern me primarily bcause our lot are no saints and are perfectly capable of seeing off teams like this.

Normally I would be, but I think it's where we're vulnerable at the best of times. First half I didn't know where Dowell was playing, seemed way too advanced to have been playing LWB. Which is why I thought it was a flat back 4, I don't know... the shape confused me :p.

The lads have believe in themselves and each other....I actually think we're going up.
