Wednesday are going nowhere, scored two goals from 3 or 4 shots, works once in a while (unfortunately for us) but otherwise there was not much to offer - it was Wednesday at their best and us on a low. We will be in the playoffs and I am still looking to go up - while Wednesday wait again.

Funny you should say it works once in awhile, as it looks to me like it has worked 4 out of 4 times, in that you've not kept a clean sheet in 2 years.
And based off today's performance, if you do go up, you'll be so out of your depth you won't win a game all season. Seriously, their is not a single prem worthy player in your squad.

I've just got back.
A few things really....well done to Wednesday, they deserved it, we were sh1te and didn't try and play football how it should be played. (To those who go every week...have we been playing it in the air like that every match????) And it was a great goal to win the game.
After paying £24 to get in and having a 4 hour journey to get there I don't expect the ladies toilets to be in a state at all but especially early on when nobody has used them! First time I've seen them like this since I've been going and it's not good...the club will be hearing about it from me.
Onto the game...it was great to be able to go to the game...always nice to be back in Sheff and at the Lane. Shame the performance isn't worthy of a report. Howard and Webber were awful. Monty and Halford played quite well and Quinny always tried hard. Wednesday played the football and we didn't as much as I hate to say it.

The fans....it was my OH's 3rd Sheffield derby and he said after the game wasn't the atmosphere poor to previous ones even when the game was at 1-1. I agreed but put it down to the kick off time and the fact we weren't playing well against a team we hate to lose to.
But the fans on the Kop on't way our were awful. Fair enough, I haven't been to many games so can't comment but the things they were saying about Blackwell were awful. A couple started arguing with me when I stook up for the manager/McCabe and the players. Not the way to express your views and if this is the norm when things are bad (i.e losing to the piggies, 4th in the league and still in the cup!) then maybe it's a good thing how I'm infront of skysports news on a saturday afternoon in Ipswich, and not at Bramall Lane.

It's in the past now so got to look onto the next game. I hope the fans who go get a better performance and result.

True. I stand very close to where he was. Everyone clapped him and was getting involved. Arguably the most interesting part of the game :).

Saw a few blokes accost him at the end of the game calling him every name under sun, and a fair few on the left where i was sitting booed

Kicking a man when he's down?

Pushing into the referee?

Any excuse to leave his foot in late?

Still... had it been any of our players who gave that much of a shit, we might not have lost.

Linz, your also forgetting standing two yards away when we are about to take a free kick

Yes- over recent games its become more obvious

Match thoughts
We were shocking- even though we created chances (Monty having at least three in the first half)
Wednesday did very little in terms of shots on target
Hendrie should have been brought on sooner
MOTM Halford due to the fact he won most in the air, I also thought Killa had a good game and tidy up at the back

I am sure Cotts was coming on- ie tracksuit off but then I looked again and it was Hendrie coming on- anyone else see this?

Anyone else see after Wendys second goal Leon Clarke stood in our half meaning we could not kick off as all their players were in their half.

Johnson when he was coming off- he went round the wendys back four shaking their hands-going to the opposite end of the pitch- its about time refs started booking people who dont get off the pitch on 15 seconds

Ahh. I knew Monty was responsible in some way. Missing those very very easy opportunities that all those Monty bashers would clearly have buried with their eyes shut...

Seriously though. He was immense today Monty. Do think we missed Morgan though. Bit of backbone.

EDIT: I wasn't questioning your support of Monty Gazza. Just highlighting how wrong many Blades around me were. (or at least attempting to)

And yet every single one of them would walk into your team.

Based on todays performance, i wouldn't have swapped a single wednesday player for anyone in the united squad, your strikers don't move, your keeper can't kick, you defenders are scared of the ball, and your midfielders didn't win a header all match.

But we will still finish above your lot in the league. Doesnt say much about Wednesday, does it. Once again, it was Wednesdays Cup Final.

Our cup final? Its the match 99% of Sheffield wednesday and united fans want to win. Its a sheffield cup final, just because you lost you cant say that it wasn't a big win.

In regards to us not having any United player in our team. Yesterday, on their performances maybe not, but i wouldn't mind Kilgallon at the back. And maybe Montgomery.

If it dosn't say much about Wednesday, it speaks volumes about United.

Out of your depth anyone?

Tough one for man of the match on our part.
Not because of how bad most of the team played, but because the two players I thought were best for us are so close.
I can't decide who to pick out of Halford & Monty because they seemed to be the only ones trying at times.

Can I just further ask?

Who voted Billy Sharp and why? :)

Can i have a split vote Linz?
I really can't decide

No :)

For my money, I voted Halford. For the effort he put in and the obvious anguish on his face that his efforts were being wasted by his teammates. I also think he caught viral tourettes yesterday... just wish he'd taken his frustrations out on his team instead of chuntering to himself.

I've voted Halford. He played Wednesday on his own in the second half.

I was waiting for him to throw it in the box, then appear in the box to head it at one point!

I decided on Monty for his 2 close shot's and the sliderule pass he put to webber in the first half (even though Webber messed it up when he should have shot first time).
And the fact that Monty had to carry Howard in the centre of the park most of the game

I voted Billy $harp because he tried to make some thing happen, he looked hungry.

He held the ball in the box actually tried to do some thing with it. There was definite improvement in the last quarter of the field when he came on.

To be honest Halford was great Hendrie was great Monty played his heart out as we knew he would all could have got my vote.

I voted sharp because I think were struggling to create scoring chances and will carry on struggling with Hendo out playing the same tactics.

But I think sharp will be better suited to a partnership with Lupoli or Ward as he will try make some thing for them Webber wont.

Dose any one dispute he made a difference to possession in there half and put in two or three good low crosses in the box before having his shot tipped over????

I just felt he needed some recognition for that I knew most of you would vote for Halford Monty or Hendrie. :)

Did anyone think we played a very negative 4-5-1 yesterday?
It appeared that Webber was up top on his own with Lupoli wide left. If we didn't I'd like to know who was on the left 'cause it certainly wasn't Squinny.

Yes we were, like we have been pretty much the entire season.

It's alright saying "it's a big game", "it's Sheffield's cup final", but a big game to me, is one that's going to give us 3 points and take us way up higher than any of the teams around us. A big game to me, at the moment, is against Preston, Birmingham, Swansea, Wolves etc

Would not vote for a motm on yesterdays game. The whole team should hang their heads in shame letting a 95 year record go down the pan.
And to tell the truth if we do hang onto a playoff position do you really think we'd get thru' to the final and win it?

Johnson did nothing wrong and not one challenge deserved a sending off. :D

:D :D :D :D :D

Johnson did nothing wrong, mind you, you have to blame someone.

Get your tongue from out your cheek, NOW!

Also, what happened with the booing of the bloke who brought in the bongo's in the Kop today? Though that was a big uncalled for, he was just having a laugh.

Didn't hear any booing at all. Where I was, people were joining in and he was quite happily smiling along and laughing with us. I'd rather have watched that for 90 minutes instead of the "football" which was on offer.

Repeatedly.

Funny that, because to many in the ground, Monty is the Devil Incarnate. I put him as my MOTM by the way. Not that there were many to choose from.

Bexley- my comment was not having a go at Monty I was suprised that Monty got three chances, and I also agree Monty was immense.

It was nice to see a player on the edge of the box getting shots away

I agree with you we are missing Morgan at the moment.

The responsibility with the loss lies with poor tactics
