Just got back. After wondering all day whether to go as the snow showers kept coming, well worth it! Didn't really see what happened for the red card - up till then we seemed pretty comfortable and I couldn't see them troubling us too much. Had to do a backs to the wall job after that, defending v well but often too deep and so with only Webber up front the ball kept coming back at us. Absolutely gutted to concede in the 89th minute, seemed like we'd dropped 2 points after giving it everything. But step forward Jamie Ward - great poise, fantastic finish, right in the very corner which was the only way it was going to get past the keeper from that angle. Haven't celebrated a goal like that in years, everyone went totally mental, and the tiny remaining Saints support all headed straight for the exits. The whole team came to celebrate the goal, ward lifted onto the shoulders.
Terrible and tiny home crowd, very respectable Blades following given the weather, midweek kickoff etc, and some pretty good baiting of Southampton ("Your grounds too big for you" was quite good, and very true). Well done to all the team (apart from Hendo if he did lash out), and the twat behind me at Preston who spent the whole game there saying how he "****ing hated Webber, he's a lazy B*stard" should have seen him running around on his own up front for about 50 mins doing everything he could to give the lads behind a break and create something.
