Last friendly before the season kicks off on Saturday.

I expect we'll see more of Kruk so a decision can be made on him.

Anyone else heading up there?

As the ground is only a stones throw from my house, I'll more than likely be there.

The development squad is in action on Tuesday night with a trip to Stocksbridge Park Steels and a trialist goalkeeper will play for the Blades.

Tottenham's Ben Alnwick, 24, an England U21s international, will play in a predominantly young squad.

Following a battling performance in a 2-1 defeat to Alfreton Town last week, United's youngsters will be looking for a victory at Bracken Moor (7.45pm kick-off).

Stocksbridge currently play in the Northern Premier League and are managed by former United junior, Gary Marrow.

The United squad to make the short trip is Alnwick, Brown, Kennedy, Barry, Pomares, Harriott, Conneely, Murray, Oates, Philliskirk, Tonne, Gregory, Long, Chapell.

Oates (if that is his real name) was very impressive although it is difficult to gauge his ability when you take the opposition into account. He stood out tonight though.

Speaking of standing out; I know the game was out in the sticks, but Danny Wilson's brown tweed jacket was still out of place.

I thought Tonne looked decent too, first time i have seen him.

Was a bit quieter than usual, but had a good half. I want to see him in and around the squad asap, rate him.

He did have a knock, but I'd suggest he was taken off in preparation for being in and around the squad for the weekend.

My first thought was that he had done enough to merit consideration for the weekend and so was pulled off to give DW the option at least.

It's definitely his name. That or it's been a big operation, the Aussie bloke who's across here with him (possibly his dad?) is in on the conspiracy. He's called him Jim or Jimmy at both matches he's played in. :)

In other Blades Fashion news, Pembo wore a fetching Stone Island number.

Bloody hell, no wonder we won. was that the pigs U11's that lost to Alfreton...? :D

Contrary to reports "elsewhere"... Oates did not play up front last night. In Oz, he's played primarily as a RB but the Blades have pushed him up to RM which is where he's played for the last two games. He's fairly pacey and good with the ball at his feet. Connor Brown also had a good game behind him last night and they overlapped well.

Playing RM seemed to suit him against Alfreton and Stocksbridge so it'd be interesting to see if that translated into the first team.
