How’s that working out?
It doesn’t even take hindsight to say that was a ridiculous comment to make. We have 2 huge holes in our side and no creativity at all

We can’t defend crosses. We can’t create chances.

We are going down. Don’t accuse me of ‘throwing the towel in’ when the lads on the pitch and touchline seem to have done it from minute 1 of this season.

Agree on transfer window. I will keep the faith until the end of December as I really do think we are in a group of 5. Hopefully!!

BT commentary against City, Shearer on MOTD and now SKY today have all basically lamented the whole way we are approaching games. If Wilder carries on with this approach then I’ve no idea what we do
I dunno what to suggest. He’s caught the cautious premier league manager bug and he needs to lose it.

It’s our best ever 2020 transfer window

Does he have the ability to recognise he needs to changd though? Does he have the ability to swallow his pride and admit he’s getting it horribly wrong? I’m worried he just won’t do it

He didn't even change anything during the restart. We were safe and not looking like getting into Europe, so he could have tried some new ideas or gone back to playing with a 10.

He's lost his mojo. I don't know whether he can get it back.

Yeah great point. That was the time to experiment, blood youngsters - something!

Kiss of death was Souness before the match singing our praises.

In hindsight (which is a wonderful thing), it feels like lazy recruitment, especially over the summer. There must be some absolute gems out there playing on the continent who we could have signed at a snip of the price compared to what we spent on the likes of McBurnie, Brewster and Ramsdale. I'm not saying they're utter shite, but definitely overpriced.

The fact of the matter is, I don't think our players are PL quality, bar JOC, Berge and Egan. Moose when he's firing. The rest are tryers, but don't have the technical ability. It's not their fault, they just aren't good enough at this level. We had a good season last year based on a defence containing JOC, Egan and Hendo, that was the key.

Some of us were crying out for a Creative midfielder in the summer. How one didn’t come through the door utterly dumbfounds me

We should of gone all out for an Eze or a Benrhama, if we’re serious about staying in this premier league sooner or later we’re going to have to pay the wages.
This team is crying out for someone that can make something happen out of nothing, take a shot on from outside the box, take players on, just create something!!

I was one of them. Very little creativity comes from the middle three during open play, bar Berge on occasion but it's not really his natural game. He's crying out some 'footballers' alongside him and in front of him - players he can trust with the ball, players who can make something happen.

Although Brewster has been quiet, he would benefit for some creativity in the central positions. We're only dangerous down the right hand side now - left side is massively depleted without Jack, Fleck, and Enda's poor form prior to moving to centre back.

Something needs to change - but unfortunately we don't have the personnel to do this.

A lot of our current problems stem from that awful transfer window:

  • Didnt replace JOC when we knew he was injured all summer
  • Didnt add two/three players to instantly improve the first 11 (akin to Norwood/Egan in Champ)
  • Signed two lads from Derby for positions that were not a priority - two lads, who are obviously not good enough for the PL
  • Didnt add creativity to the midfield
  • Didnt sign a single midfielder so now CW has no choice but to play a wantaway Lunny
  • Quite obviously missed out on most of our main targets (Cash, Swift etc)

How on earth Wilder thought it was the best window he's ever had is just bizarre.

Bash is our best player almost every game he should be on that list, Egan makes more mistakes than him.

Absolutely disgraceful thread
OK we aren't playing well and there are many things you can have a pop at but to just come on the site to take the piss out of the manager and what he's said after all he's done for the club

He's worth a thousand of you mate

Some bad Blades quotes, please avoid:

1) "Think Liverpool type investment"
2) "Our best ever transfer window"
3) "Michael Brown's replacement is already at the club"

What a weird response

Brewster £23m - can't be arsed
McBurnie £20m - rubbish
Moose £9m - mardy/injury prone
Berge £20m - good signing
Osborn £3m - useless
Bogle £8m - who knows
Lowe £4m - early but nowt special
Robinson £2m - decent long throw
Ramsdale £18m - can't catch a cold
Freeman £5m - never given a chance
Robinson £6m - swapped for Burke, no gain or loss

So that's ~£112m spent and only Berge has a claim on being better than what we originally had.

Yeah fair enough. I love Bash's commitment and energy and he's never really let us down. Egan does make mistakes now and again, most defenders do, even the top ones, VVD made a few at the start of the season, Maguire £80m and full of them. Still think he's PL class though. Can't say that about too many others.

It’s been my biggest frustration since we got promoted, there was no reason we couldn’t have played a 10 against the weaker Premier League teams last season, but you couldn’t argue with the results.

This season we are crying out for a plan B and the 10 could’ve been it. It’s as if Wilder hasn’t completely forgotten that Duffy was a massive factor in our promotions. Why can’t the 10 work now?

Maybe apart from Berge I’d rather have our league 1 midfield... shows the lack of quality we’ve brought in that area.
