£4m up front for Brooks

It’s easier to think of two separate court cases. I’ll call the current one the ‘little’ case and the forthcoming one the ‘big’ case.

The little case is about whether UTB should be compelled to loan Blades £1.25m to cover running costs for the next six months plus our transfer budget (transfer fees and increased wage bill). Sheffield requested that UTB loan the money and he would match it as a loan, so Blades get £2.5m in total.

UTB said no, I’ll gift £1.25m but Sheffield said no. Then UTB said ‘if you’re insisting it must be a loan, then you loan them the full £2.5m’. Sheffield said no, no, no.

The judge said ‘you’re a pair of shithouses using litigation as a game of oneupmanship’.

Part of UTB’s legal argument is that the judge can’t compel UTB to loan the money because now the Brooks deal is done the money isn’t necessary to prevent insolvency and anyway, whilst buying players is desirable, it isn’t a necessity.

These are legal arguments in connection with under what circumstances the judge could force UTB to loan the money. They are not necessarily representative of the Prince’s actual views on how the club should be run.

The big case is the one to determine whether moving the shares to get out of a contractual obligation is legal or not.
thankyou .. explained at last ;)

Brooks appears to have had a decent start in a pre-season friendly against Sevilla today. From the AFC Bournemouth site:

"David Brooks had his first run-out for the Cherries since joining the club from Sheffield United earlier this month, and the 21-year-old showed plenty of promise.

Brooks looked every bit a Premier League player in his 45-minute display, with a handful of eye-catching moments including one mazy, early run down the right flank.

The Wales international almost had a goalscoring opportunity, too, but having been picked out inside the six-yard box by Joshua King, was denied by a great challenge.

However, on first glance, Brooks’ technical skill and intelligence on the ball look a great fit for Eddie Howe’s side."

Astonishing. You’d have thought they’d put a dampener on their £12m signing’s debut...

Looks like the Brooks money is paying the wages and running the club until the. “Lucky to have him vs Poundland Prince” dispute is sorted.

It’s perfectly clear from the judgement (and also Tufty’s remarks, but he’s a compulsive liar) that the enhanced budget (£7m) was agreed independent of the Darling David income. Tufty obtained assurances satisfactory to him, from both owners.

Tufty continues to assert in his recent (post judgement) interviews that we are actively seeking to recruit PL or top championship players.

All the rest is armchair punditry from those with too much time and insufficient knowledge.

Fotty million that's what we should have got for the boy.

With 50 million up front so McCabe could pocket the extra 10 million to prove his lack of ambition for the club.

What was the 'new' cop stand and John Street stand paid for with, Green Shield stamps ?.

Thing is most of the posters who think they know how to run the club better, have never run a business and if they were in charge of our club then.

It's often said that more than half of new businesses fail during the first year. According to the Small Business Association (SBA), this isn't necessarily true. The SBA states that only 30% of new businesses fail during the first two years of being open, 50% during the first five years and 66% during the first 10.

Though if they were smart and banked with the Co-op they could rack up debts of 20 million and then say sorry we can't pay that back because we have spunked all the money away as we thought there was a magic money tree in the car park.

But as it is all someone else's money then it matters little as it is 'our club'.

And when it all goes tits up the irresponsible lenders will come crying to the government for another hand out of taxpayers’ money.

But are the irresponsible lenders forcing people to borrow money from them ?.

Some people only think as far as 'I wan't a new car' and not, how will I pay for that new car if interest rates rise.

Similar to people saying that spending 20/50 million pounds on players is an 'investment'.

Topplayersleave
Is there any untruth in that ?

I see Fletcher is off now along with Rhodes, and son of Hirst left for nowt, as for being topplayers that is doubtful but topearners most certainly.

I'm looking for someone to pay me £ 35 grand a week to just sit on my arse all year, so I have sent my taxi driver CV to Tunatown.
