By my reckoning we have now spent over £100 million on players since our promotion to the Premier League, and what worries me most is having spent that money we still have pretty much the same side we got promoted with. Thats not necessarily a bad thing but does make you think what level of investment is needed to take us to that next level i.e Wolves Leicester etc and are we ever going to get it? Don't get me wrong I don't think Wilder has spent anywhere near as well in the premier league as he did in both league 1 and championship but it would be unfair to expect him to do so. However it did make me think are we better putting all our eggs in one basket so speak with a £30 million striker rather than constantly trying to unearth lower league gems?

I'm pretty sure Bogle and Lowe were a combined £8mil.

Imo what we really need is someone to give us an upgrade proportionate to that Norwood / Egan gave us at the start of the promotion season over the people they have replaced.

it’s going to cost loads though. The likes of mcburnie have improve the side but realistically not given us a massive upgrade of say mcgoldrick. It’s costing 10m a pop to improve the squad not even the first 11.

hopefully berge when fit provides us with that step up in class and then the striker we sign does the same.

To put it another way, £60m of that (Berge, McBurnie and Ramsdale) played today and £15m is for too very young full backs and we’ve only had one game.

Freeman and Robinson have left £11m) so that only leaves £14m.

£15m is J Robinson, Mousset and Osborn who all played important roles last season.

I think we’re doing ok.

Lowe and Bogle were most certainly not 7.5m each. More like 3m up front for Lowe and 5m up front for bogle.

Mcburnie and Berge imo are both very good investments and even if mousset never plays for us again, his 5 goals and 3 assists in the top flight have already gone a long way to covering the £10m we paid for him.

The only big investment we’re waiting to see if it works out is Ramsdale imo. His form and reliability will be crucial.

Agree wholeheartedly on Berge, think McBurnie could go either way he works hard and shows glimpses of quality but could do with a big season this time around

Been confirmed by sources at the club it was about 3.5 Mill each.

Dread to think what it’s going to be like next Monday if Villa somehow manage to beat us!

So basically we've spent 11m worth of bad signings and we'll be getting money back for them.

I don’t think any of them were the reported figure were they??
Highly unlikely but quoting Sky “biggest and best league in world” figures is always going to boost the numbers up.
Local media tends to get the real amount especially when you’re the buying club.

The money spent on McBurnie and Berge and Ramsdale money well spent it is others that are around them.

We looked a different team when Berge came on alongside Fleck and for me we need to replace Norwood and Lundstram.

For me Lundstram is clearly not at it and not interested and we cant afford passengers.

Norwood is just too inconsistent and can't seem to even beat the first man more often than not and is so infuriating to watch add to that his decision making and neshing tackles that lead to the opposition scoring it is just not good enough.

We need a quality attacking midfielder alongside Fleck and Berge that has real pace power and trickery that can unlock the oppositions defence and have them on the back foot.

If we spent all of it on abroad players we would have a better value for money

Burke ?

Not if we have underdeveloped scouting and and up with Joelinton 2 or Wesley Part Deux.

Also have language issues, homesickness etc

We've spent about £85m and got a starting midfielder, a starting striker, and a starting keeper, plus a load of decent vackup. That's good value for money in the Prem (sadly I suppose)

Did you notice how often in the latter stages of the second half McB dropped into midfield to try and add some link play?

Anybody else sense his growing (understandable) frustration?
