why did we need a transition year

did Wigan
We needed a transition year because of the shit Clough left us with, minus our best player yet again. Wigan had money left from the prem that they didn't want to waste and used it wisely, when we had that money we scuppered the fucking lot on shite.

its like the other blade we never should have sold
nick blackman

has anyone noticed after his purple patch when he became a superstar we shouldnt have sold , hes not scored a goal since january 2nd
has yet to score for Derby

againj this 40 player thing
name all 40 players that have played for the first team this season

the 40 n includes our under 21 players which dont count
on the official site the bbc and sky 33 is the most you can find

show me a link that shows us having 40 odd in the first team squad

http://www.sufc.co.uk/news/article/sheffield-united-squad-numbers-2598778.aspx
33 squad numbers were issued a lot of these have gone
Nick Blackman has started just 5 games for them due to injury and the squad rotation they use due to the abundance of attacking talent they have, even Tom Ince has been in and out and he's been their best player when I've seen them. Lets not use actual facts though eh, lets just berate every player who leaves, someone who actually did look decent at our mediocre club.

I don't get this McCabe out nonsense. He has put millions into the club. Who else would have done that? I ask who do you think will replace him?
Also, we sacked clough to early so I say stick with Adkins until Christmas at least.
Good point about McCabe, however dont agree with the statement you make about the management situation. Because we sacked Clough too early, is no reason to keep a different under performing manager until at least Christmas. Why should Adkins keep his job just because Clough was wrongly sacked, when he has taken us backwards ? He deserves to be sacked now.

Since his millions got pumped in we've gone from not challenging the top 6 in the championship to not challenging for the top 6 in League One.

I would imagine that's why.

The millions Mcabe has put in is after selling our best playets and trying to replace them with average players. He is no better than any of the previous chairman. They are only interested in themselves. I go because i like to watch football and United but i also know that he can bank on 18000 every week and therefore do what he likes. The meeting last week was just fudging and eventually the manager takes the flak and gets him off the hook.
I have supported United since the 70s and the system hasnt changed one bit.
Its a gravy train no more no less. But the chairmans a Blade isnt he. Hey who would have thought it.

Chelsea have chucked bucket loads of money at it, there's no wonder they've won trophies, it's called ambition. They get a good player in before they get rid of one, this is where we tend to struggle. We get rid of our best players and replace them with a player with less ability afterwards most of the time.

Changing managers won't make a blind bit of difference if the board keep doing the same silly mistakes, is that so hard to understand?
what mistakes are that
a board can only select a manager
they dont select players pick the team or motivate players

He asks managers to replace players sold , Im pretty sure he doesnt ask for them to be average

If Leicester can win the prem with a squad for 45 million in total , when man city spent more on Raheem Sterling alone
it shows you can pick up quality without spending too much
How much money have Burton spent, or Walsall if they pip them

Its all about managers , its their job to find players
Warnock could get in players for smaller fees

Wigan had sold for far more than they spent
there are managers out there who can work with limited budgets or to sell more than they buy for

thats a good manager
weve employed one who hasnt found enough of
the right players

They keep selling our best players every season. That was an easy answer, next question.
again all clubs sell players always their best ones first as they are the ones that are wanted
and they go if its a step up for them , again at any club in this league

Wigan sold a lot of players

Walsall sold some of theirs

all league one clubs sell players, Swindon sold 5 or 6
selling Murphy should with a decent manager have not mattered a jot

Warnock didn't only have one fucking season.

Warnock this Warnock that, give Adkins seven seasons and see what he can do, it's fucking tiresome, he's gone.

It all depends on what resources your given after your best players have been sold from underneath you. It's clear that Adkins hasn't had sufficient support at the right time, i.e January when we clearly had a chance of at least getting in the Playoffs, the board bottled it once again.

give clough 7 seasons , first he got us higher
Clough had a fortune to spend in terms of being in League One, he wasted an hell of a lot of money on mediocre players, that's why we're still in this league, not Adkins.

It's well known that Sammon was a Clough signing.
Edgar wasn't. He seems to be a bit of an anomaly but he's been good since we got Baptiste. Hit and miss at the start. I don't quite know the background to his signing but I'm not going to make assumptions that he is evidence of a secret/mystery/hidden scouting network we possessed over the summer.

I've seen this banded about a bit now about Sammon being a Clough signing, I don't believe he was. Clough was going to sign Williams from Swindon and now at Doncaster. Unfortunately this story seems to have gained momentum as it adds to the keep Adkins argument. I'm sorry if people believe all they read by supposed in the knows and it may well be a fact that now it suits board-members to even nod and agree that Sammon was a Clough signing (although I've seen none acknowledge this in writing) as it's easier to blame the last man but that doesn't make it true. I believe Adkins had a choice whether to bring him in and having admired him from afar since his days at Kilmarnock (his words) decided to sign him and Billy at the same time. I know this doesn't sit well with the anti Clough agenda but then sitting 10th in league one doesn't sit well with my keep Adkins in agenda either.

He was a Clough/Brannigan signing. McCabe acknowledged it at the fans forum, didn't he?

Does it even matter? Warnock signed Horsfield, Akinbye and Hayles but he's a fucking genius.

well Adkins said money was there, so again even if its less itys there

again what have Burton spent
what have Walsall spent
what have scunthorpe spent

they all probably would love to have had what we gave Adkins
but theyve managed to improve

First of all, Warnock only got us up because he was allowed to spend money.
And no, Wigan have not "sold far more than they've spent".

You should employ a fact checker.

What did we give Adkins?
i was a vip guest for port vale match & i was told there that Adkins had spent 10.5 million on players wages, fees etc, i e hammond on 18 grand a week with Leicester matching it as well.

its never about individual players
its about the team
ask Leicester
That's right, a world of accepted wisdom that, wait for it, the best players win more has been dispelled by a once in a lifetime event.

I'm now off to cancel my summer holiday to California because someone told me it was raining last week.

Wibble.

he was left a playoff .. semi final team?

Sorry to disagree mate but he was left a team which fluked its way into the play-offs due to the L1 being even more crap than we were .......

That's different to a play-off semi-final team in my book.

We had a squad full of weak, under-performing, gutless, goal-shy midgets .......

UTB & FTP

That's misleading. That play off semi final team limped there and then we sold our best player. On top of that, he had to fill numerous gaps in the squad with little money as well cutting the playing squad too. It was an impossible task to take us up and as a result we've stayed more or less the same.
I don't remember the team last year being particularly popular. We were dreadful last season and there have been more positive performances this year than last (including the league cup). The points they achieved last season would most likely not have been enough for the play offs this year because the division was easier. We've not gotten worse, we've stayed the same but with more signs of progress.

Correct mate ....... the acid test of last season's squad is; how many of those players did anybody want to buy off us ?

The answer is one .... Murphy. And of course, "when a team from a higher division come in for one of your best players you have no choice but to sell" ....... unless you're a big club like Gillingham or Walsall ......

They go into specific details of our finances during these events do they?

And you're trying to tell me that 5 players cost £10 million? Seriously?
