No offence but the season has not even finished and this is United we are talking about who are not known for forward planning. As someone else said you would think McCabe would have an idea being chairman (he does not have to say who but could say deals have been done or being closed).

We will see on July 1st I suppose.

I think there is forward planning with the blades Deadbat, it's just that the're useless at it.

The board should always be getting it in the neck as long as we're not near the automatic places, unless they've backed the manager sufficiently, which obviously isn't the norm. What the hell would Leeds fans be like if they'd spent 6 years down here? Their board wouldn't be getting such an easy ride, that's for sure.

What is the purpose of the board, back in the day, board members were local businessmen with a bit of spare cash. Enabling United to dabble in the transfer market.
If McCabe and the prince are shelling out all the necessaries, what is the point of a board.

I dont know who the players are and my contact doesnt just that we know the number who have agreed to join us (there might be more since he told me). Whether they are good signings we dont know

Good point . In simple terms to me certain board members are reliant on the successes of there business by the work they do for Kevin McCabe. Others like Mike Blundell who is living a dream with being on the board , does not have enough clout to influence things. A mis mash of autocratic management has in some ways held us back . Yes we are thankful to the McCabe family but they have also created our downfall.

Gone are the days of the butcher , baker , candlestick maker business men running a football club . Even with the Prince on board , we appear not to be running smooth and efficient , with the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.

Ok we employ 900 people so we are a big business organisation , but the bottom line we are a football club and it's what we do on the new desso that counts.

Perhaps this was forgotten , but they now realise this , which is I suppose a good starter for 10.

We have wasted millions over the years , and the buck stops with McCabe and sons . What is the answer . That's the worry , nobody has one.

The rules allow players in the last 6 months of their contract to talk to other clubs. I imagine most clubs have a couple of deals lined up most seasons before the summer comes around.

Interesting info Silent Blade. We can only hope the reason McCabe didn't say anything is because he has no idea. It would hardly be surprising, would it?

Or that he’s waiting to sell Brayford/Adams and try to soften the blow with the news of the new signings?

Sorry but dont agree. Charlton completely rebuilt their team. As have many others. Why should it take us 3 seasons. Two solid centre backs, two midfielders that can run all day and a big uncompromising centre forward and we are half way there for me. I know that is a big ask but why can we only sign say 2 or 3 per window.

One interesting stat also is Wigan did not field one player from the line up of the last three games when they got relegated last season to the side that ended this season (final game at Blackpool). Not one player.

They managed a complete overhaul and promotion (granted may have still had some parachute money but they hardly splashed out lavishly; likes of Power, Perkins, Morsy, Grigg etc were not big money signings).

If as Silent says we effectively knew we would be in this division and thus have been identifying players then we should be ahead of the rest at this level. We will have had 6 months from say February to August to identify the 6-8 players we need.

If reports are to be believed, Grigg and Wildschutt cost a million each. I can’t see us spending that much on transfer fees totalling all incomings over the course of the next 3 windows. It can be done but it takes quite a lot of investment all at once that I just don't see happening here.

But, if the wage bill is allowed to be a similar size to this years, we should have room to bring in a few frees/loans with the number we have going out. Then it's a case of hoping we've unearthed a diamond or two amongst that lot that can take us up a level.

That would depend on so many different circumstances it's impossible to comment, i.e the budget he has had to work with, how he's recruited, points below 2nd etc. He ultimately would be underachieving by 4 positions though.

But despite the impossibility to comment you'll be in the "Sack if third" camp?
