I really want to like Adkins, like so many on here, but until he starts being more honest we'll accept failure for his entire tenure.

I can just about accept the idea that you have to stay positive during the actual season, but I'd be more prepared to give Adkins the benefit of the doubt if he actually came out after it finishes and spoke honestly about the disappointing effort this season, both from him and from the squad. A genuine mea culpa would certainly encourage me to cut him a bit more slack.

The trouble is, I have a sneaking suspicion that he actually believes the meaningless positivity he endlessly spouts - and that's what worries me. Can he actually see the problems, and specifically the mistakes he's made? If not, we may as well pull the trigger, again, and let someone else drink from the poison chalice next time around.

I think you're right, he believes the nonsense that he talks. But the only way that we will manage to turn defeats like yesterday into Draws or even Wins is by accepting the failings and addressing them. The Penny does seem to take a long time with Adkins, ironically it was Coventry at home before we grew a set of Bollocks.

All the rest of the out of contract players should then be told to leave. From there he needs to find around 12 players to get out of this division . At least half of them should be potential leaders ( a bit like under Bassett and Warnock). He then finds a system where we are quick, tough and clinical in our approach. With the right blend of players you will naturally find two or three 'captains'

Keep Brayford but Agee with the rest.

I think Adkins will surprise and confuse us even more this summer , and it will not be down to McCabe.

The out of contract players will be gone anyway, because they're no longer contracted. Now that we've brought the squad size down considerably, we need to worry more about bringing players in, transfer listing current first teamers will be done, presumably after Adkins has transfer listed the players we've had out on loan.

Funnily enough it was one of the first things Adkins said when he arrived and when he was quesionned about the new captain. He said that he wants 5-6 leaders in the team. The problem though, has been selecting JMac as captain

You hope! I reckon half of the team will definitely be there unless Clough signs up some of his crap! Basham, Done, Adams, Sharp, Brayford, Coutts and several youngsters are all under contract. On the positive side many aren't! Time for Flynn to be released. You can't be 27 and still "having potential" to be a good player.

Undecided on Long. He still needs to improve, particularly if we are to mount a promotion charge he needs to cut out the flapping and punching from his game which seems like a permanent trait thus far. McEveley was just starting to win me round for a one year deal to be a squad player, until he did that handball madness against Shrewsbury. Cubellier, to injured and no better than the younger lads coming through. Howard no better than Long, time to go. Edgar maybe would be worth another deal say for one year with the option of another. He is reasonable at this level, and he seems to want it to me to succeed (based on his reactions when a goal goes in), which I'm not sure all of them want it enough. Hammond's a no from me but you can see he still could do a job for us, if given the likes of Moncur or Dack alongside him! ;-). All the rest can go find themselves a league two club if lucky!
