The "I Renewed My Season Ticket Even Though We're Heading For Our Worst Season In 3 Decades" Amnesty

Yes I've renewed mine, but for probably the first time in over 30 years as a season ticket holder I am not looking forward to a new football season.

I Think it's going to be very tough few years coming up.

Don't forget the absolute will of steel it takes to NOT say what you really think:

'What do you think to these?'
'Hand on heart, couldn't give a shit. Everything looks the same and this is a complete waste of my time'

Having said that, I'm the one in our relationship guilty of going to 20 shops and going back to the first one. I don't want to buy summet only to find out 3 shops later I could've got the same thing cheaper, or something better for the same price :D

I do say what I really think. My Mrs knows just how much I hate going shopping with her. On the odd occasion I agree, I make her tell me beforehand which shops she’s going to and what for. The only time we go shopping for the sake of shopping is for her birthday when I take her to M’Hall/ Trafford Centre and sometimes boxing day sales so long as we get back in time for me to go to the match.

GBP 283 can't argue with them prices really. I'll probably get to around half the home games due to being out of the country a lot.

The only thing i expect in return is loyalty and commitment from the players.

I think we’ve started to show that as we’ve whittled the squad down. We’ve now got Basham, Hammond, Sharp, Done, McEveley & Baptiste in the team all of which are triers with the right attitude. Ability is what we need to improve on now. McEveley, Hammond, Done (at WB anyway), Flynn don’t seem to have the ability of promotion players. If we could improve on a couple of those and regularly get somewhere near the best out of Coutts and Adams, we would be somewhere near where we want to be.

i threatened a mega flounce if Hammond got signed but i don't know if i can get off this. it is worse than a crack addiction. Plus i never thought of doing direct debits :)

And the last nine have been good?

No but for the last few I have gone into the seaon expecting us to at least be challenging for promotion and the last two I have been convinced beforehand we would the League.

Next year it is 50-50 that we won't be battling it out at the wrong end of the table.

Which, as far as I can remember, is pretty much how we felt at the start of our last promotion season, when old Warnie was in the last chance saloon. So you never know.
;)

Just told my lad I`ve got him his first ever season ticket.

Get used to the pain son, get used to it...
Yep, my son was born 262 miles away from Bramall Lane and raised 170 miles away, never ever lived in Sheffield, but still suffers the downs being raised a Blade ;) He got the bug when he was 7 and went to his first game, we beat Forest 1:0 Garth Taylor goal.

Renewed ours, me and the mrs, first day they went on sale, no reason not to, it's not like I am not going to go.

Reading this thread makes me realise (and I know a lot of the posts have been intentionally funny) how lucky I am to be married to a woman who loves the Blades and football in general. Never been an argument when it comes to football, in all the years we have been married. It's her that says to me, "tickets on sale for Port Vale" (or insert the name of any shit house ground we have had to endure over the last five seasons) "shall I go and get two?", it's her that plans our holidays or weekends away around football, so we don't miss any home, or easy-to-get-to away matches. It's her that will say "don't be working too late, football on ITV tonight, etc.

It's her that will pop into the club store on her way back from town and buy me a t-shirt or something.

She sorts out Blades Super Draw, our SUSA membership, I could go on and on.

Mind you, I do get all the "shall we go shopping" type garbage over Summer, can't wait for the season to start!!

UTB!
What are her thoughts on bigamy?

Just sent off the direct debit form. Also stringing it out over 10 months. Sent second class so hope it gets there in time for the early discount!

Still think they are charging too much and there will be 2 of us not 3 next season, so that's one they have lost.

If Hammond sign permanently I will be throwing my shoes at the directors box on the opening day - not that there will be any fucker there to hit.

Sent second class? Didn't know it still existed. You can be proud of your Yorkshireness there. How much did you save?

Not sure. Always buy books of second class stamps. Could run into the pence!

Post service is so crap anyway nowadays not sure how they distinguish between first and second. Maybe they are all deliberately stuffed in the wrong letterbox as opposed to accidentally. Maybe they are all flung in a ditch. I'll let you know if it never shows up.

Going down to do mine after work either tomorrow or Friday.

Held off as long as possible in the hope they don't put mine towards the signing on fee of bloody Hammond.

Lucky you.

Mind you we've only had the discussion once, around 1975 when she said on a Friday night "can we do whatever it was tomorrow" (I can't remember)

I replied "no chance, I'm going to the Lane"

Her response? "you think more of Sheffield United than you do me"

My obvious reply "I've known em longer than I've known you"

The ground rules were set but 40 + years later we're still married with two grown up Blades "kids" and I've still known em longer than I've known her ;)

Great post

Excellent :)

Let me know if you ever get divorced please Grapps

Renewed mine and the teenage daughters last Sat by DD, realised it's only £32 a month and without the match it'll cost loads more to do something with her. Also it's a bloody good excuse for a few beers twice a month

Last time I had the shall I sharnt I renew of this magnitude was 1981 relegation to Div 4 - well did then and had one of the most enjoyable seasons ever - who else remembers Peterboro and Darlo away

The law of averages says we're due a good un - renewed weeks ago so UTFB

Pleased to say I got my first pensioners ST having turned 60 years young

My Mrs is into football, she supports Leicester so she's quite happy right now. Our Sunday afternoons are spent watching the Premier League games and sharing betting tips.

Out of interest - Glory supporter or has she always supported them?

She's from Leicester and her dad's being going for 40 years. She had a season ticket as a girl. She didn't support them as violently as she does now about 3 years ago tho!
