Brayford certainly hasn't been a quality player for the last 18 months. I don't know what happened to him before but the injuries have probably finished him off. We're not going to see the player we had on loan.
If there's a chance we can get Byrne without spending all our budget on him, then we should commit to signing him. Perfect for 3-5-2, and you won't find a better outlet. Using Brayford as in an exchange deal could work, as long as he still has a good reputation at Championship level.
As I said on another thread, if we could sign Byrne and two quality centre halves like Baptiste and Pierre I'd be happy to allow the rest to steadily fall into place over time. That would give us a good defence, a wide threat, an average midfield and a good attack. We'd be up there in January.
