Once a Blade, always a daft ****
Do you not think plenty of players left too , with their transfer fees and wages ?
of course there were but we still ended up with a top heavy squad and over budget

First and foremost, excellent result today, and one that I'm sure club legends Chris Morgan...and, erm, Danny Wilson will not have enjoyed.
But Nigel Adkins pre match interview was a real worry for me, and casts major doubt on our chances next season.
Talking about the players we have already taking up next seasons budget and cutting our cloth accordingly are incredibly worrying and clearly preparing us for what next season will be like
I can't believe cutting our cloth has come up again, after several years failing to get out of a shit division. The last time the owners talked like this we got ourselves relegated.
What is the Prince's move here? He's only here to try and make money and he'd only come close to doing that should we be in a higher division, but we look set to continue the cost cutting exercises of this season.
How is it possible that we can't compete with the likes of Burton, Wigan and Gillingham?
They'll be backed by another strong following next year, surely we can put together a reasonable squad with players from this league and below on sensible wages for sensible fees?
Surely these successful businessmen can see this too?
I'm a big fan of all this money we spent under Clough. Was that the money that was earned from 2 cup runs and the sale of Harry McGuire for £2.5m or something? Now, assuming Clough used all that money he still had us in balance. Big Jim has said somewhere that the players were bought from that money.
So if we are being fair, he earned his own transfer kitty no?
What a pathetic lot you are all this negativity after thrashing Chesterfield 3-0 ( it should have been 6. ) we still have an outside chance of play offs andI imagine the fee + several years worth of wages for John Brayford alone would have eaten up the Harry money.
As for the rest of them and their wages, you're genuinely suggesting Clough left us with a surplus?
Seriously?

the negativity is shocking ,let's leave next seasons budget to the future and get us over the line this season.
Our budget next season will be competitive let's leave that till later ,now get behind the team ,we can do it. !!
Nothing wrong with debating it but all the debaters are negative charliesWhat a pathetic response to a very debate worthy subject.
If you're incapable of debating such subjects, don't comment on the thread, eh?
Time to come home from 't pub now Finlay.Nothing wrong with debating it but all the debaters are negative charlies
Enjoyed a pint on the back of that win this afternoon Barney.Time to come home from 't pub now Finlay.

I hope the club aren't claiming they are skint. McCabe wrote the debts off when the Prince arrived, we've been inside the FFP 65% of turnover rule since then, not to mention lucrative cup runs to two semi-finals, a big pay day at Old Trafford, the sales of Maguire and Murphy for around £4.5m and average crowds not far off 20k. Top level at the club needs ousting. It fucking stinks if McCabe and/or the Prince are pleading poverty.
I can tell. You've gone off on rambles about negativity before after you'd had a few.Enjoyed a pint on the back of that win this afternoon Barney.
not sure I'm that bothered about a lower budget. A high budget has done us no good has it?
If Yeovil and Burton/Walsall can get up, then I'm sure that the blades with an average budget can do it.
Don't get me wrong I'd love us to get taken over by the crown prince of Qatar but in the absence of real money, the manager will have to do a good job instead.
What does "Talking about the players we have already taking up next seasons budget ", really mean though. It could mean that the 30 odd players we currently have currently eats up the entire budget, the fact that 18 of them are out of contract means that Adkins has loads of options. If it means that the 14 left eats up our entire budget we are in the shit.
Perhaps someone on here can advise?????
Only 11 isn't there? Unless you are factoring in some youngsters that have been offered pro deals?18 out of contract, but how many will actually leave? I suspect perhaps not as many as fans think or even hope will leave

Edit: 14 if you include those currently on loan.
Did a post about it ages ago, this is copied from there...Don't know barney. Blade67's post says 18

Because when he talks shit after a defeat at home, fans have been and know it's bollocks. Fans have no idea about what McCabe says to him behind closed doors. There's also less reason to lie about something like this, I don't suppose there's much point in angering the fanbase by announcing we're "cutting cloth" for no reason. It's amazing how interpretations change to suit. One minute it's "Adkins always talks bollocks" next his every word is taken as gospel.
Why is that?

No worries. You must have been wondering to ask it and now you know.It was a rhetorical question but thanks.

Come on Sean, stop being cryptic, really spell it out fella so Barney doesn't have any ambiguity. Alternatively, just give it up and move on to a more sensible debateErr, rhetorical?
Even with a reduced budget we should still have plenty with all the players being released, at least to sign good free agents and loans.
I had a look through the squad, guessed who will be released/sold/retained and it left us with an estimated 50k p/w reduction in the wage bill. So theoretically we could afford to sign 10 players on 4k p/w whilst still spending less than previously, and that should be plenty. Then there's any transfer fees etc, which can hopefully partly be raised be a couple of sales (Brayford, Scougall, McNulty).
