1, I don't get the outrage initially and the f offs headed Suns way, it's a forum it's supposed to be open, if it's itk, then surely that's why your here, to learn about things first by everybody sharing stories etc...if upset with owt, you need a chat with yourself mate...

I agree in general but posting leaked team and formation info many hours before games was attempted sabotage IMO

I don't get it, because when you get a capable manager, who knows his stuff he can wring performances out of even the most average of players

If the players are willing. Warnock has inherited a bunch that obviously are at Rotherham and he's getting the performances out of them. At some of his other clubs he inherited squads that weren't, and who disrespected him, and the only solution was to have a clear out. From what I've heard it sounds like Adkins may have found himself in the latter situation.

I stopped reading at that part.

Let's stop talking complete nonsense before we start.

Convenient, because the rest of the post pointed out valid reasons why your comments on Adkins' backing are debatable.

Given their respective clubs and the age they are at (all more or less peak age for earnings) I'd say:

Sharp 12k
Sammon 8k
Hammond 12k
Edgar 7k
Baptiste 7k
Woolford 4k

How much do you think they are on?

If they're all on chocolate buttons, why are the Prince and McCabe pumping in 8million a season each by McCabe's own admission?

Even if I accepted those numbers, (which I'd halve), has the releasing of;

Doyle
Collins
Harris
McNulty
Freeman
Dimao
Murphy plus £2,500,500
Kahn
Alcock
JCR
Wallace
Baxter shortly.....
Scottish kid on loan who's name escapes me and probably numerous others........

... not been noticed?

Jamie Murphy went for 1.5m according to reports.

I concur some money is offset by those outgoing though those outgoing were on far less wages and largely offloaded once he'd already expensively recruited. He didn't send anyone out he was intent on keeping though because he needed to balance the books.

You might be surprised on wages.

According to data from 2014 "Players in England's Championship are next, earning £486,000 on average, a staggering sum for a second tier".

Young lads on pro deals won't contribute much to this average so how much 29 year olds and thirty something's.

That was 2 years ago.

In the same survey Premiership players earn on average 43,717 per week. Hammond has been on contract with Leicester all the time they have been in the top flight so he'll be on a decent wedge even if well below the average and we'll be paying half.

Point being, compare those figures to what the managers of Burton, Walsall, Gillingham, Bradford, Barnsley, Millwall can afford. We're shopping at Waitrose while they are buying Tesco's own brand in comparison.

Do you compare the % being paid by the parent clubs?

I'm staggered that Bury can afford some of the players they have.

Don't forget the Old Trafford cup money.

Adkins said last week he wouldn't quit, however, from the clubs point of view, they have every right to expect a top six finish imo,and to review it accordingly at the end of the season
The information I have been given is mr McCabe is panicking over poor season ticket renewals(he even made a plea to the fans last week)and therefore considering his options..it's the annual blades dilemma, stick or twist I'm afraid

Are you still seriously suggesting that our wagebill had gone up under Adkins?

Am I missing a punchline here?

I get it that a good number of people want a change in manager. We've all got criticisms, including me. But the idea that we've increased our wagebill between the end of Clough's era and now is, quite frankly, laughable.

Appointing Wilder would be an extraordinary leap in the dark. 48 years old with no managerial experience at a top club, and a reputation for a direct style of play. If United aren't in the top six all season, all these things will be pointed out and comparisons with Mickey Adams will be ubiquitous.

"The added bonus for Cobblers fans is that they have gone top playing an exhilarating style of football, performing with verve, style, flair, pace, energy and real quality"...

Is how the local reporter described Northampton's style of play.
It's been a very long time since our team could be accused of playing like that.

There may be several good reasons for not changing manager or not appointing Wilder but fear of a "direct style of play" should certainly not be one of them.

That description could have been used to describe any style of play. I've seen them on the box several times and there pretty direct. Direct football can be as engaging as any other style - but is it what we want?

I have no idea myself, but say that season ticket renewals are poor. Is bringing in Chris Wilder as manager really going to produce a sudden rush in season ticket sales?

If McCabe really thinks that Chris Wilder is the man to bring the excitement back to the fans then it's further proof that he hasn't got a fucking clue about the fans or football in general.

75 goals. Top scorers in the Football League. 88 points. Promoted in early April.
Yes please! If any manager playing any style of football could achieve that with the Blades, who would turn their nose up at it?

Almost all the most entertaining, high-scoring, successful seasons I've spent following United have been under managers who could supposedly only play direct football. Unless you're over 55 years old, then so have yours.

I just want us to succeed. Whatever it takes. Ask the fans of Rotherham and Northampton if they're happy with their current style of play or not.

Wilder's ticks the following boxes for the board:

1) He's a Blade
2) He's Cheap
3) Point 1 means they think he will put up with the boardroom idiocy at this club for longer than people without Blades connections

A lower overall win percentage than Adkins....Tick

Who in turn had a lower win percentage than Clough at United.....Tick

Who in turn had a lower win percentage than Wilson at United......Tick
