Adkins out

If these highly paid players won't put the effort in because they 'need motivating' (bless), then they need shooting.

I don't know if this point has been covered, but it took Warnock four years before we got a sniff of success, so giving Adkins the boot after less than a year may not be a good idea.

I well remember a lot of Unitedites slagging Warnock off in 2005 as well ... and then we went up

I'm genuinely curious WHF, what is it that you've seen that I've not.....what's in your 'Plenty" :)

Short answer: motivation, man management (from the little we have to go on), tactics (with reservations), performance analysis, vision, strength of character, his record, swindling Shrewsbury into taking Wallace (his greatest ever achievement :D), rehabilitation protocols (I mean managing players back from injury), pathway for the youngsters, and other stuff.

He's clearly an optimist - but to me he's also clearly an unsentimental pragmatist: you don't get that many promotions having your head in the clouds (I'm thinking of Ossie Ardiles's legendary free-playing free-losing Spurs team).

Long answer would need each of those points (and more) fleshing out - and will take a while.

There's some right old shit on here sometimes.

McCabe spent £1.5m on a right back and sacked a manager so he must be able to afford to do it again? Yes, of course, because that's how money works. I might go out and buy a Range Rover because by that logic I'd definitely be able to buy another.

Sack Adkins and then worry about who to appoint? Jesus Christ. That's how we ended up with fucking Weir in charge. We panicked, sacked Wilson without anybody in mind and no fucker wanted to come to us so we ended up with a shit fifth choice.

We're also blaming the head scout for the board giving Adkins no money to sign anyone in January and get one loan in in the loan window. o_O

The problem is higher up than Adkins. Sacking him would achieve absolutely fuck all.

As for Chris Wilder being a good choice because "he knows the club and the fans". What is this bollocks? The last time he was here we had entirely different staff, and just how many of the 20k coming through the gates does he know? He doesn't know me and he doesn't know the club just because he used to play in our shirt at our ground with a completely different bunch of people.
Adkins is utterly fucking useless. Get rid now.

The reality is that he's spoken at length about much of the above but not been able to put much of it into practice. Motivation, Man management and tactics he's failed miserably. Pathway for youngsters, they're in and out of the side while poor performers keep their place.

Rather than fawning over his waffle, realising what's happened on the pitch gives a much clearer insight as to the ability he's shown to date.

The one thing I will always stick by is that I cannot believe that any manager is "lucky" enough to have four promotions on their CV. One, yes, two maybe, but four?

Whf

Can't say I've seen much or any of that at the blades. The only reasons I can see for keeping Adkins are

1 his record before he arrived. He's either been very very lucky previously, or he knows what he's doing.

2 I trust him more to turn it around than the sufc board to select a better replacement.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement, but I'll stick with him a bit longer.

You think Adkins publically talking about disciplining plays proves there's a lack of discipline?
It`s clear to me there`s an almost total lack of cohesion and discipline at the club. Adkins is the one faced with sorting that out, he`s failed.
