This might sound very melodramatic but I'm seriously concerned about the future of Sheffield United FC.

I'm basing a lot of my comments from what I read and see from 5,000 miles away but it feels to me that the club is in a death spiral.

A lot of money has been poured into the club over the last few years. Most of this money has been wasted. We are going to finish in our 3rd ever lowest position.

As many have said on here it feels like the Saudi money has dried up...with oil at it's lowest price in decades it's not a surprise! McCabe has poured a fortune into the club and is reluctant to pour in more. I don't blame him!

Unless the club can somehow pay it's way by trimming it's budget and still be successful by nurturing some home grown talent I fear the only way is down and the wilderness of League 2 or worse beckons!

It's time for a different approach. We can't keep thinking we're Billy Big Boots in League 1 and shouldn't be there. The table doesn't lie. We need to accept this and change that mentality. Costs have to be cut and a fresh start made from the bottom up. Adkins has said this and maybe he is right (it's hard to accept given our history).

The time to start this is now....get the big earners off the books asap. Sell them or terminate their contracts...maybe cost money but will save in the long run! Keep Adkins but give him performance targets for next season and beyond...and that might not be promotion next season either! Maybe attendance might be a target as if we have a bunch of triers playing attractive football people will come.

We need to get to get some passion and optimism for the future back into this club and quickly!

From 5,000 miles away, that is a perfectly reasonable thing to say.

From here though, me and thousandks like me, feel like chucking ourselves under a tram. Never in my 52 years, have I been less arsed about my boyhood wonder team. The bunch of wankers in the boardroom, tossers in the dugouts and twats on the pitch have simply done for me.

I know I should have more fire and more fight, but right now that's not how I feel.

'When Saturday comes' and all that.......

There will always be a demand for bog roll so our prince should still have a good bank balance.

I wasn't saying the fans have to be optimistic on their own. The club have to build something we can be passionate about. I'd rather they start that now than leave it too late and we have to do a Wimbledon or Accrington Stanley!! That's what I'm worried about unless the rot can be stopped!
