4 points off play offs

I hope Millwall win tonight. We have zero chance of the top 6, our chances would be slim now even if we were half decent. I don't want to see Clough get Burton up.

The Millwall score...ok could turn around but doubt it means we would be 9 points off the play offs and it is more like 10 with goal difference.

I think everybody already knew it but todays results (everyone won in the top 6/7) means it is definitely finished; regardless of what we do at Southend. We would have to win every game between now and the end of the season and even that may not be enough.

If Southend beat us as i sadly fully expect we will enter the bottom half of the table. Fotunately we have just enough points not to be sucked into a battle at the bottom.

We have 8 games left but the season is done folks. We need to now start planning for next season. I know he will but I would not play any of the loan players at all and any he is going to release. Means it would be Long, Done, Sharp, Adams, Basham, Brayford and maybe McEveley (if he gets another year) and then 4 young players but so be it. I do not see the point of fielding players like Edgar, Sammon, Hammond (know he will keep him).

I also would not play likes of Coutts or Woolford; two players who should be put on the transfer list along with Freeman, McNulty and Scougall at the season end (sadly all got another year).

How much I agree with all that except we wouldn't be able to field three at the back. Collins did have his uses.

You might have to play McGahey or Edgar just to finish the season if we persist with 3 at the back but the rest should be players going to be here. It might be a disaster but I would rather we had Whiteman, Reed and say Basham in the middle to finish the season. I dont think any of those 3 should start next season but they will be in and around the squad. Coutts and Hammond are not the future for SUFC and not for a team serious about promotion. They wont be playing league football in 1/2 seasons for me.

Sharp and Adams need more games together ready for next season and should continue to form a partnership.

Yep, six points needed over the next two games just to keep pace with the others. I have a sneaky feeling we might squeak a win at Southend, but I can't see us beating Walsall.

"but I can't see us beating Walsall"

I fully agree and everyone read those last 7 words and weep.

Last few games. Doubt I'll be going much next season. Unless this team persuades me otherwiseo_O

I'm still far from convinced by the Sharp / Adams partnership upfront. Adams still has far too much to learn to be our front line striker in a serious promotion attempt next season, IMHO.

If we'd managed a win at Southend, we'd be 5 off the play offs with 6 to play.

But it's not going to happen as we need two of Millwall, Barnsley and Bradford to succumb to bad runs, while we go on a fantastic run. We probably need to win 5 out of our last six to stand any chance at all.

Good win, but play offs looks lost now.

I think it's gonna go down to the last day. It's actually very likely (looking at all our respective run-ins) that us, Dingles, Rochdale AND Scunneh could be in with a chance come the final day. I think Gillingham have tanked it now. We absolutely must win our last 3 games tho. I don't know if we have it in us.
