Seems to me that Sheffield United are seen as a sacking club within the industry.
Not referring to anyone in particular but it would seem plausible that Managers could be taking on the job without doing any real research into the squad and what is needed to turn the club around, safe in the knowledge that they can have a half arsed effort at it, make bizarre signings and tactical decisions, piss off the fans, then when they fail to get promotion they will be sacked and have their three year deals paid up.
They can escape with their reputation still in tact, seven figures in the bank and get a new job because sacking managers is what the blades do.
