I reckon it cost a fortune to pay off Clough and tempt Adkins. I vaguely wonder what Clough might have done with that money if he'd been given it. Either filled the gaps in his squad, or bought another Jimmy Krankie for the midfield. Who knows.

McCabe and the board have pushed the boat out financially for both Clough and Adkins and certainly did not go for the cheap or penny pinching option . However even when doing this we still cannot get it right .

We do need a confident , up front , charismatic manager in the Warnock mould being a bit off the wall, with league 1 division experience . The thinking mans manager does not seem to work at the lane , as proven with Wilson . Weir , Clough , and Adkins .

Can only think of one bloke , he is out of work , and fits the bill of working at a place were the patients have taken over the asylum. May not be everyone's cup of tea , but beggars cannot be choosers .

I think for every manager we have had since robson there has been a better more expensive but attainable option we have chosen not to pursue
