He played the wide central midfield role as you'd want to see it played in that formation.

I agree about Flynn being man of the match. Linked with Done really well, especially in the first half, tired a bit in the second half. Flynn needs a run in the side now, he is one of the players I hope we keep next season.

But Flynny does this every season where in puts in a top class performance in a game and then nowt for the rest of the season.

The only time I saw him play a consistent spell of games back to back was when he played at right back.
That's what I thought. You can just feel that one year extension coming on! :)

I'll enjoy today before I get too wound up about seeing some if these players next season.

Flynn was excellent when the Beard first came.they linked superbly and his defensive skills allowed JB to bomb forward without care. You don't get pace and the beating of a man with Flynny but you get trickery and hard work. He's an honest pro and has been said when fit is a useful player to have in various positions. Some people just can't give credit when it's due regardless of whether they like a player or not ( not a personal dig at you HG)

It's possible to give credit where it's due (like today) but acknowledge that it's players like this that have turned us in to third division furniture.

For me a fit and in form Flynn is well worth keeping. I could reel off a whole load of wasters who have been worse than him since we've been down here

Absolute class. Him and done linked up so well.

Only one average performance but I'm definitely focused on the positives.

First game in over a year. Seems like I'm a lucky mascot!

Thought you'd pulled in the swanky bits for a minute then.

Trouble is with Flynn, if he is up against a tough LB or someone with pace he fades fast. He doesn't like a bit of 'clatter' in a game.

I hope he comes back and improves, but even with an extended contract, I don't think he has anything to offer in a side that should set out to dominate next season (if that is what we are meant to be doing) and certainly, he is one of many who will be run ragged and bullied like a ginger stepkid if we go up to the Championship.

Hah. My mistake. Did I say 'if we go up to the Championship'?

I meant, re-contract mediocrity, tart up the stadium and stay where we are.

I don't mind Flynn and wouldn't be upset to see him get another year but at the same time I wouldn't be too sad to see him move on. He isnt someone i would mind having around as a squad player and there are plenty of others who I would like to see leave before him but I don't think he's consistent or dynanic enough to be first choice in a promotion side

If he stays another year we'll get more of the same inconsistency we've had for 4 years, sooner spend the wages on someone better.

I think that's a fair case to make. He does have odd spells in a season where he looks good. If you look at the ratings given out on this site, you'll see he has a run of games where he gets a lot of mom awards in a couple of continuous months but then fades

Think Flynn is better the more he plays, when he's in and out so are his performances.

Well, like Brayford, he's been injured...the difference from Brayford being his consistency...he can 'do it', and is 'a honest lad' ( lol) but he needs to really nail that position down between now and the summer to earn that contract.

The first time I saw him beat a man today the keeper for 2nd goal.

Still would oust him in summer 1 good game every 10 isn't worth a contract

Typical Flynn. Played well - and credit to him for that - because the pressures off. Crap opposition, low expectations, United in mid table...

I wouldn't be surprised to see more good form from him in this situation. Hopefully the club will look at things in the round and not take up his option. Same for McEveley - these are not players that will get us promoted.

Hope we don't start a Flynnaldo witch hunt now Collins has gone.

He's at least good squad player at this level but given a chance one of our few midfielders that can score a goal.

Wasn't a great fan when he first came. He made good runs down the right flank but always pulled up and went backwards when a defender came to him. Think Clough forced him into taking a man on and it made him a much better player.

When the axe falls I hope he still here and fans get behind him.

Really good that Flynny is performing. I was extremely surprised that he's even getting a look in for a central midfield slot, but is that more to do with the fact that we have nobody else for the role or is he genuinely becoming a contender for the central role?

My argument against him being there longterm would be physical presence and lack of height. Personally i think he'd make a very good back up for Brayford in the wing back slot.

He's scored one league goal in about a year.
