Dane Whitehouse. Last united player to reach 50 goals![]()
I think Matt means last United midfielder to get to this feat.Where does Brian Deane fit into this calculation?

Whitehouse scored 38 league goals.
Wiki also states he scored fifty goals for the club.
Where does Brian Deane fit into this calculation?
He scored 38 league goals, 2 fa cup goals and 8 league cup goals and 2 in the other category, every goal counts in my book.Maybe he did but the only true measure is league goals.

Yep it's the same logic behind why some twat who sells carpets probably won't have a clue when it comes to running a football club.
I'm sure if he had scored in the 1993 FA Cup Semi final, you would have counted that one.
EDIT to the above... Billy Sharp is currently on 24
24 league goals?
No, 24 professional goals in the official shirts of Sheffield United Football Club.
So that includes goals playing for the reserves![]()
Deane scored 50 goals before Whitehouse did.
Dane Whitehouse is the most recent player to reach the milestone. Since Dane Whitehouse reached 50, the closest we have are:
Ched Evans (48)
Michael Brown (35)
James Beattie (34)
Marcelo (33)
Richard Cresswell (30)
Paul Devlin (29)
Peter Ndlovu (29)
Andy Gray (28)
Carl Asaba, Marcus Bent (24)
Fjortoft, Kabba (23)
Just shows how poor we have been since 1997 or how we have been unable to hang onto anybody half decent
Speak for yoursen, Mate!Just like the vast majority of posters on here then (including myself). We are football KnowsNowts, we do talk a good game though!![]()

Key word "professional". Reserve football isn't classed as professional football.
Interesting.
Do you know the goals to games ratio?
Billy is obviously our best player and scorer at the moment but is on his third stint. So how many games per goal?
Sharp was a professional when he played in the reserves. I think you need to insert "first team" in there![]()
Maybe, but he was playing for a none professional team i.e. Sheff Utd U21s/U18s/Reserves etc.
Professional = First Team (in this country anyway), In Spain they have "B" teams that play in the 2nd tier
In Spain they also have bullfighting, duck chasing, and throwing donkeys off towers (probably). But we aren't in Spain, so what they do there has no relevance to this discussion.Maybe, but he was playing for a none professional team i.e. Sheff Utd U21s/U18s/Reserves etc.

If you are going to compare players from different eras the best way to do it is via league goals. Our top goalscorer is Harry Johnson who never scored a single goal in the League Cup..........he also scored them all in the First Division.
That was hard workI'm not comparing players from different eras. I am stating which players have got the closest to 50 FIRST TEAM goals for Sheffield United since 1997... The last time a player reached said milestone.
Some semi-pros' also get paid in this country. How are the 2nd and 3rd teams "non professional" teams? The players who play in those teams get paid don't they?
